Range Brass

How much do you get for your brass? Just curious.

When my brass gets old I deprime it, crush it with heavy pliers and throw them in the trash.

now that I think of it, old style napoleonic-era brass cannon sounds cool ... time to start saving up that .22 brass ! Or maybe something a little smaller, like a blunderbuss...

Then again, how much would a piece of 3 inch brass bar, say, 20 inches long cost ?

You should be able to make a backyard forge that can do that. The hard part woud be getting a container to melt in.

its called a crucible

think ceramics

Where would I get that?

Crucibles are casts made from refractory powders. Refractory can be nasty to your health as they are known carcinogens, so wearing a dust masks is a must. Building a furnace can be done in variety of different ways. To do it safely with the amount of energy your going to used in the process, it’s not something that’s makes money on a small scale of ingots.
