Range Brass

I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts are to reloading found brass at the range. I found a whole bunch of 9mm and 223 Rem at the range yesterday and collected it all up. It looks good with only a few having split cases. Would you reload it? or toss it?
 
I reload it all the time, after checking for all the various things that can be wrong with ANY brass used or new. But some people prefer to only load new premium brass.
 
When I find some brass at the range I inspect it carefully and use what I can. I keep it in separate lots so I know where and when its from. My thoughts are that those who toss out large amounts of brass at the range most likely do so after one firing since they are not reloading it. If it has been loaded more than once it won't likely be thrown out at the range in any quantity. Seems logical to me. Clean it, inspect it and use what you can.
 
I pick up all brass i come a long, even for cases i don't have firearms for (especially in the larger calibers since that's where the money savings are). Never know when I will pick up a different caliber.
 
If this brass was laying about the range like you describe, you can guarantee its only once fired. Anybody who has any appreciation for loads or for maintenance of the premises would never let this happen. I am always on the prowl for range brass. I'm like a crow drawn to shiny objects.

My shooting buddy and I go to the range together. Before we even take our guns and gear out of the car we are running to the garbage buckets and almost fighting over the brass. We are both brass whores.
 
I'll save range brass if I see it's factory stuff being fired and then discarded.

I must have 300-400 300 WM and I'll never own one.:D

A buddy and I were at the range a couple of years ago and a guy tossed a few 300 Jarrett's away. Cool find.

Make sure you have a grocery bag in the truck.:D
 
I have no problem with range brass either, chances are that if it is left behind the shooter was not a reloader and it is once fired. It is just like if you bought new brass and fired it once and picked it up, but it is free!!!:D I too am a brass whore.:redface:
 
Not really, I pick up as much as they leave. Doesn't matter what brand or caliber. Anything I can't use now or later, goes into my scrap pail, and at $1.35/lb. it surely pays for lots of my fuel to and from the range.

I picked up alot of brass at the range over the weekend. I did find a dozen
.457 govt but I didn't take them. I just left them on the table for someone else to take.
