I just got a bunch from our club and thought I'd share a couple of pics of my little cleaning experience with 1000 9mm brass.

The brass

The leftovers

I washed and tumbled them after sorting using a colender and big mixing bowl. My wife was away for the day. I'd post the end result but we all know what clean brass looks like.

Isn't that range property?

Different ranges have different rules regarding brass once it's in the brass bin. For example my local range it's basically first come first servedk fortunately for me I'm close enough to my range that I can hear the shots when somebody is shooting and can go scrounging around for brass soon after.

Members at our range get 1000 free 9mm brass with their membership if they so desire 9mm. Thats all we have in quantity. After that we pay so much per thousand. The majority of it is Winchester brass. And everybody who reloads is always on the lookout for left behind stuff.

Isn't that range property?

Ranges where I am a member allow us to scrounge (safely and not being a nuisance) but regardless of the club if I take 150 9mm rounds then I own 150 pieces of brass and I'll go home with 150 pieces. They are mine, I didnt buy them for the range or club donation. If they don't allow me to take 1 piece more over that then that's debatable with other members or the exec. I can't belive clubs/ranges that do that. What about rifles? Are you required to leave your Norma .416 Rigby brass behind? Not likely.

Not meanin to be a jacka$$, if you brought it its yours. If others left it is it. It there for the range- reason being hat brass adds up and the range can put the money towards grounds keeping or whatever they want to use the money for

I was at a range, the RO said if it hits the ground it's theirs

Our club has a container to put it in. Any brass in the continer is collected and taken to recyclers for scrap. Brass is a good price per pound these days and it goes into the pot to support club and community events. As far as I know the only rule is to clean up after yourself which some do and some don't.

At our range, if you brought it, it yours to take home. If someone else says you can have theirs, it yours to take. Once you 'abandon' your brass (ie. you couldn't be bothered to pick it up when you were finished shooting) it belongs to the club and you have to ask staff if you want to grab some (realistically no one cares if you want to grab some to reload, just don't think you get to show up with a 55 gallon drum and cart t off to the recyclers).

We are required to pick up our brass, buckets are supplied but I am afraid that most of our members seem to reload so scrounging isn't too productive

My range allows you to collect discarded brass if you want.

But on a more important note to the OP, Diet Choose Up.. really?? lol. I remember a Dr. Pepper knock off called Dr. Smooth. and it was better then the original.
