Range day with 2 new ones

Just out of curiosity, what bullets do you prefer in your 22-250 for deer?
I have used 70gr Speers for over ten yrs with good results on two deer. I also have some 60gr Nosler Partitions that are next on the "try" list. After that, I think the Barnes TSX would be a good choice.

I wouldn't use a 55gr soft point on anything but a groundhog or a target.

Nice rigs Paul. Was the action off the one I sent back to ya?
I think you needs to try some 140gr Accubonds though. With about 59grs of H4831sc behind it.
Then you should come out here and shoot a nice mule deer or something western with it.

Seems to be a pattern there. :p

.

Yeah, and it's a bad pattern...

Either your barrel has heated up too much and you are squeezing off the 4th round regardless, or you are flinching on the 4th and then realizing that it's okay, and settling down for 2 more.

There is no good reason for both your 4th rounds to be flyers....the rest seem to be working out good.

You seem to be the weak link! Get on it, NEwf!:p

No, that was another action. I just sold the one we traded back and forth to a young guy at work, so it went to a good home.

I do have some 130 ABs in the mess down there. I just wanted to get it going with the BTs.

OK. :)

I'm going to try #2 and 3 again. #5 was pretty hot with sticky extraction in both loads, so I want to back it off a full grain from that point. Another primer will be tried down the road as well.
