Well, Tenda sent off my GSG 16. Here in BC, I was expecting the usual Canpar slowboat to China routine. Lo and behold, it got switched from Canpar to Loomis and they brought it right to my door 2 days earlier than usual. And I live in a very small town in the middle of nowhere! Things just got even better from there.

I ordered a Holosun to go with it. It's on a cantilever mount and is the perfect height for me. I like their products and this was no exception. Good price from Tenda as usual.

Cleaned it all up, mounted the red dot, found the little spring that likes to fall out of the upper receiver that GSG doesn't mention, took it apart and put that spring back in and reassembled it. Off to the range.
I set up targets at 25 yds and tried a number of brands of ammo. First up was CCI Mini Mags. They shot the best group of all. I know this is a plinker but it doesn't hurt to be an accurate plinker! Very happy with that group.

Next up was Remington Thunderbolts.

They were pretty decent as well. I pulled that shot at 3 o'clock because the bolt release was hitting my thumb and i thought it was reciprocating so as i touched off the third shot i glanced over to the bolt. Pulled the shot. Bolt was bouncing a bit but not reciprocating. That's four in the center. I fired one more time but it went high so if i just left it at that. Still decent for a red dot and no magnification.

So, now on to Federal Auto Match. Fired a 10 round group with these. It came out around 1.6" for ten shots.

I put a lot of rounds through it today. I had a 4" plate at 25 yds, then thirty yds. No challenge standing. Happened to have another plate at 50 yds for a rifle, bigger plate but still, just kept dinging it, as fast as i could pull the trigger. This gun was worth the wait!

Some observations:
a) It fed dozens of rounds without issue until near the end of my session- I started getting stove pipes. About 6 in the last 4 mags (22 rounds each).
Not sure if it was getting dirty or what. Will clean it up and see if it stops. The other thing that crossed my mind was that it seemed to do it mostly when i was doing double taps. Coincidence or not, I don't know. Time will tell.

b) I did have one failure to feed but it was my fault. Don't know why I was doing it, but I became aware that I was holding the mag when shooting from a rest. Got the ftf at that point. Never grabbed the mag again and never had a ftf again. BTW, some people have said the mags are a sloppy fit. I didn't find that with mine. They were a little on the tight side as a matter of fact.

c) I decided i don't like the rails. I will go to something smaller and smoother. Think I will be giving Walmart Greeter a call soon.

d) the gun was sturdier than i thought it would be. I don't mind the present stock. Feels solid to me. Although I am thinking of getting the fixed stock just for appearances.

e) There is a lot of take up on the trigger but once you get used to it you can go straight to the breaking point. I don't know what the trigger would have been like without the trigger adjustment screw but i like the trigger on it at present.

f) I wish the safety had a shorter throw. I have big hands but it was still difficult to put it to the fire position.

g) I will be getting the HK type push pins as those screws for the stock and the upper are ridiculous.

I really enjoyed my time with this little gun. I can see using it in a 2 gun rimfire match. It would be competitive. Impressed with the accuracy and function. And looking forward to doing some mods on it.

Yeah - I've never liked rails on the side of hand guards. They are just cheese graters for your hands.

Thanks for the review. I held off on this one until I could get some range reports.

Hey Mate, where can we get those HK push pins in Canada? I do find they are annoying to take apart when time comes for cleaning which I would suggest doing at after 500 rounds, gotta keep that bolt clean

Ebay, or China is your best bet for the pins. Canada, your looking at over 40$ for something you can get for 12$.

I got more than 500rds thru it, and still runs fine. I just find keep it wet and runs well.

So the thunderbolt ran good ? U run any hollow points ?

I ran CCI Subsonic HP thru mine w/o any issues, also runs Standard Velocity no problem.

I've got about 800rds or so thru mine. I was really pleased with accuracy. I found the Remington 40g ran best. Cleaned it up without issues.

My buddy has about 1500rds in his.. the bolt handle broke off in his hand. Blueline is dealing with his warranty claim now. They said his is the first that they have heard of to break as such...

Glad to hear & see that yours is a good shooter as well!
