Range etiquette

Next time do the same to them with sawed off side by side shotgun to see their reaction... Throw them an empty shotgun shell and tell them the next time it’s gonna be much faster :)

This is humor...

I feel like you have an obligation to all the people who will shoot beside these people in future to correct their behaviour if it is potentially life-threatening. If it's annoying, that's one thing. If people can get hurt, you need to step in.

Try putting cameras in clubs where there is no power. How would that work?

No power? What do you mean?

My club has no power. Very rural area. There's a generator for the little clubhouse, if needed - that's it.

Then your club isn't likely to ever have to worry about cameras. If it's not busy enough to need power it's not gonna be busy enough to need cameras lol

The CFO isn't going around asking random ranges to install cameras. The CFO is asking ranges to install cameras because they are tired of driving down from Orillia to close the same clubs over and over to investigate incidents.

While I'm not in love with the idea, I have to admit it that I love the club I just joined (with cameras) and I would HATE for it to close. If a disgruntled neighbor forwards a video to the OPP/RCMP showing some guy running around shooting all crazy at least the club has their own footage to say "It was an IDPA match". If the CFO shows up for an inspection and there's 900 holes in the baffles, at least the club has footage to say "It was Garda". If it's cameras or closure, my vote is for cameras.

Go to EDSC. Generator for the clubhouse only.

Then as already mentioned above the CFO would not request them to install cameras! The issue is about cameras not about power. A 25 yard range was closed for 6 months in 2018 in my club because the Ontario CFO requested to install cameras, new baffles, new target frames and increase the height of the back berm. In all honesty, I don't really mind except that it drained a bit of money from the club account.

They give you options. Options like “Get power, install cameras, and review the footage daily”... or “All shooting must be supervised by an RO, who must only supervise and cannot shoot”... or “Close up shop we are revoking your range permits”.

At the range I go to, this is prohibited behavior, and members are asked to file an incident report. (And there are videocameras.)

Board member who did my intro class said they are required to tell the provincial CFO when a membership is revoked. I would think this is taken into consideration at (R)PAL renewal time.
