My wife wants to know what i want for Christmas and i have been looking at the Leica and Swarovski range finders. Are there any deals around now that the dollar has sunk? What should she expect to pay?

Swarovski LaserGuide or Leica CRF 1200

Probably want the Swarovski but price/reward may enter my decision.

I have been searching around and have discovered that Zeiss has a nice unit on the market. Oh decisions decisions.

NC Star has them for around $230.00 CAD I think? Simple effective, lifetime warranty, and more money left over to buy.....food perhaps?

I have heard many good things about the Leica Rangefinders. It's definitely on my wishlist of things to get.

I got a Leica from Cameraland. Nice and simple to operate and ranges things way far away.

I bought the Swarovski from cameraland. I originally ordered the Leica but they had a demo deal for the Swarovski and the dollar was at par. I'm sure I would have been very happy with the Leica, but under the circumstances I figured it was my one shot to be able to justify getting the Swarovski. Turns out I was right.

My hunting buddy has one of the Leica 1200. Like BigUglyMan says, it easy to operate and ranges quite far. I think you can get them for about $750ish.

Love my Leica, the Swaro is nice but too friggin big IMO

Good idea going with the high end stuff. I have owned several of the lower end ones and with optics perhaps, more than any other gun accessories, you get what you pay for!

Has anyone used the Newcon 1500 ?
It is made in Canada and sells for around $400.
