Range Idiots

I'd-a given you a hard time for not loc-titing everything, and not bringing a handful of tools to the range :D. If I knew you. As a complete stranger I wouldn'ta said ####

I don't recall you giving me a hard time.....:D, but then again I had most of the tools, and thank goodness for the 8mm wrench in the glove box....

loc-tite everything you say....

I learned the loc-tite lesson myself when I did my 7.62x39 bolt gun build. Now - if it's threaded, it gets the loctite. Bases, rings, action screws, the lot. Blue is good enough in most cases, but I had to go with the red for the m305

Sounds like a shooting range is a good place to avoid. My shooting buddies and I have our own range, from 100 yards to as far as the eye can see. I would be tempted to offer my help to someone though, after all, we all have to start somewhere, not ALL of us were born experts.

Who in their right mind would stand close enough to penetrate the face a steel collum with a 45ACP? ?:onCrack:

Or shoot up the box that holds the sand bags that are supplied by our club.
And make no mistake, it was a member that did all thhis stuff and the crap that Martinbns mentioned.

There were no taracks around our gate all winter, so this ( these ) arsepicks had a key.

A lot of idiots in general, the tin roof of our range is all shot up, the ligh fixtures which were put in a great expense are shot all to hell, 45 acp ammo cases all over the place. Why can't people just respect others property, it gives us all a bad name.

pick up those 45acp cases.
not only will you be helping by cleaning up the range, you can make money by selling them to me :D

I not getting it...

I read post after post about guys not willing to put in the time shooting OR people flying off lead in the bush during hunting season.

These guy's find their way to a range, buy a membership and rattle off some shots (and their teeth), only to be condemend as being idiots. Sounds as if the rifles may have been new or maybe they were. Bottomline is, is that they're 'working it out'.

This is bad..... Why?????

i agree. why not help them out instead of sitting there thinking they are idiots? maybe they simply have had nobody teach them how to sight in a gun properly? you could have simply offered some help. if they turned it down, THEN they are idiots;)

Dave, This is more common than you think... If you've bought cheap lead ammo in the last year for your pistol, chances are you've shot range picked brass...

I have witnessed much of the stupidity described in this thread. The worst, however, is when some guy comes to our range to sight in before hunting season and is so excited that he points the damn thing at someone. Happened to me twice at the range last fall. Our range officer gave them hell, but it still was disconcerting.
You can't legislate commonsense, I suppose.

We must be lucky, I really havent seen any hero's or unsafe people at the range.

I did notice one guy on the skeet field had developed a little deal with mount that cause me to think twice about standing to his left but he wasnt doing it the last time I was there. (long ago)

Amen!

I don't mind the loud brakes or the 18 MOA groups, I hate the slobs that won't sweep up their brass or throw coffee cups and chip bags on the ground. Our range has a bloody dumpster beside the rifle gate, it isn't like there is nowhere to put the garbage.

Didn't realize there was that much damage over the winter! :( , That pisses me off.
Do we have a group cleanup day planned? If you need any help on a day off, I'd be happy to come out and help fix the place up a bit, I really have to check out the 1000 yards!!.
