Hey

Is there a reason why a range kit holster wouldn't be good/ practical to use as a wilderness carry holder or a holster Americans use with their everyday carry ?

Thx

There is nothing wrong to use them as open carry holsters. But they are not effective as true CCW holsters as they are bulky and stick out. True CCW holsters have a flatter profile and hug the body more. Or the Yanks use IWB ones for better concealment.
PS Most hunting or wilderness holsters have an additional retention device like a strap or a lock in case the user falls and the gun falls out. Range kit holsters don't have these safeties.
They are acceptable for IDPA competition though.
The second pic you have is a IWB holster and is not a range kit holster.

The first pic is a range holster, the second is just a normal holster style . I do see that now that - that the normal holster has a strap over it and the range holster doesn't. Do range holsters have a way to lock the handgun in or it just sits in place from tension ?
