Range near Newmarket ON?

Sharon's a good club, if you can get around that $1000 share, big on IPSC type shooting, up to 300 yd. rifle range(last time I was there).

Are you looking for a club & range to join or just a range to go shooting for a few hours. ??

I do not know yet what's better. I'm new in this... going to buy SKS and would like to shoot when I have time... What's the cheapest way?

Thanks everybody for replays... I'll look into this Sharon Gun Club.

Since we are on this topic: Anybody knows which club within an hour drive of Toronto has the longest rifle range which allow restricted as well?

How about CFB Borden. 25 to 1000 yards. You must be an ORA member and have an ORA sponsored ATT for you restricted. Your local club ATT is not valid for DND ranges.
For more details see www.ontariorifleassociation.org

Does anyone else see the irony of posting about looking for a place to shoot a SKS in the Long Range/Precision Shooting Competitions forum??

LOL!!

Galt?
But no restricteds on their long range IIRC?

The cheapest place to shoot is going to Silverdale Gun Club, on the weekends, you can only pay $20 a day to shoot as a guest, no membership required. But it is really far, 120km from Toronto, but all highway 401-403-QEW, not bad for poor guys like us

close to Toronto

Oshawa fits the description, Barrie is an Hr. from Scarborough, Orillia is a little farther, Sharon is probably closest, There is Burlington (brrc).

And yes, SKS and long range don't usually fit in the same sentence, laff.

Thanks for the info guys and I know sks and long range don't mix:D

I was thinking this for my 300wm and newly accquired M305s.

I am capable to shoot reasonable well upto 300 yards but wants to improve my skill a little better and wants to challenge at a longer distance and if I can hit dinner plate size target at 600+ I am happy:p

btw: how hard is it to hit consistently at 600yards?

Come out to one of the ORA days in Borden and find out how easy it is to shoot 600 yards. The targets are huge, they are 6ftX6ft but the new F Class V Bull is only 1/2 MOA:p

We are organizing some shooting days for Gun Nutz who want to shoot SKS, M14, M94, Garand, Mauser, lee Enfield, etc.

We will help you get zeroed at 300 yards and then have a number of shoots like snap, moving targets, rapid fire, etc.

PM me your real email address and I will put you on the information list.

If I join ORA can I go out to Borden anytime?

No, Borden's an active military base. The ORA arranges practices and matches on set days. There is usually a military liason range officer required. The shooting is regulated.

Check out the ORA website for 2009 dates.

You can shoot at Borden on any of the days the ORA has the ranges booked. Check out the ORA web page and click the "event schedule". Lots of shooting in Borden but it is not a rolll-in, roll-out type of club, if that is what you are looking for. There are some evening practices during the week and most weekends there is some type of shooting going on. The event page will tell you the distance(s) to be fired and what range the event will take place. I think there are even some days that at least 2 ranges will be in use for different events.
Most events require you to be there for 8am for a range safety briefing with the first round down range hopefully by 9am.
Please be advised that due to military requirments cancellations could take place. It is always best to call the match organizer the day before to make sure the event is still on, and always check the web page for updates.
And of course always watch your speed on base the MP school is in Borden.
