I have been hanging around on some other boards lately and came across quite a few professionals that recommended high temp white lithium grease over oil as a lubricant.
Suggested application is a light coating to:
I am taking this rifle on course in June and need to give it a good workout, so I fired her up in the following manner. I had 8X CP mags and had someone refilling as fast as possible to minimized cool down:
100 rounds steady fire (2 per second) -
100 rounds double tap
40 rounds rapid fire
Smoke break (literally - the handguard was smoking quite nicely LOL)
80 rounds steady fire
Had 2X FTF, both mag related (same mag) and the gun cyled manually at the end just like it did at the beginning.
She was filthy (Winchester 55gr), but was still "wet" and slippery even with the carbon buildup.
And another nice side effect was a lack of gun oil leaking out of every pin hole
Easier to clean I found as well. Carbon didn't seem to get as good a hold on her..
Suggested application is a light coating to:
- rail contact points on the bolt carrier
- Bolt contact points
- gaskets
- trigger group
