Another scorcher of a day, but I couldn't bare to stare at my newly developed loads for that awesome looking M70 I purchased from MTM here in the EE forum. It was time to find out if she's more than a pretty face. This is the very first load that I tried, I have a few more to get through, but I wouldn't feel bad at all sticking with this for my Yukon moose this September.

Rifle: Winchester M70 XTR, topped with Leupold VXII 1-4x20mm atop Leupold rings and bases.
Ammo: Barnes 300gr. TSX, behind 60gr. IMR 4895 and CCI 250 primers. COL = 3.717" (0.075" off lands) apparently those TSX's like a slight jump to the lands.
Recoil, very acceptable. I love this gun :bigHug:

Yvan, you were asking before what I was using, my 300g TSX load for my 375 is 67g of IMR 4895.

Still playing a bit with the 380g Rhino's and the 350g woodleigh's, but pretty much have them moving along where I want them.

Left to right is the 380g Rhino, 350g Woodleigh, 300g TSX, and 285g Grand Slam.

Powder: too hot...too frikin' hot my man.
Dave: that is a nice slection of heavy weights. What sort of construction are the Rhino's and Woodleigh's? I know the Grand Slams quite well. Used them out of my 7mmMag, they always held up to the job very well for me.

260 grain Nosler Accubonds are printing inside 1" for me @ 100 out of my BDL 700 S/S chambered in 375 Remington Ultra Mag. I'm using H4350, and 92.5 grains of it for 3017 FPS lit by a Wincherster Mag primer. At 3000 FPS, I don't really think uping the weight to a 300 TSX is going to do anything more that the 260 AB will already do.....I'll let you know 1st week of October after the moose hunt. Are you crimping those 300's?

A 260gr. Accubond flying at 3000+ fps is serious medecine indeed. No, I'm not crimping the TSX's. Would there be a benefit to it do you think? does it alter accuracy?

Crimp if the bullets (in the magazine) are being set back into the case upon firing.

Crimping is to hold the bullet in place, not help accuracy. Some people claim it does, LEE claims thier Factory Crimp DIe improves accuracy;). Bench resters don't crimp...I've never seen it improve accuracy.:)

375 H&H is abouthte level that crimping may be necessary. I just use good tight neck tension.:dancingbanana:
