First a plug for Kodiak Outpost. I paid for the gun on a Thursday, Transfer approved Friday in my mailbox Monday. They were very patient and provided a level of service that I personally feel is unsurpassed by any dealer online or in person. I wouldn't hesitate a second to purchase from Kodiak Outpost.

Ok. So the gun.

Here are a few pics of the gun as it came from K.O.

As you can see in this first pic in the middle of the case there is a key lock to lock the case

In the range test I am going to compare the gun to my Browning BuckMark UDX 5.5" Rose wood grips.

Here is a pic of the browning and phoenix for size comparison

Ok for the report

I paid 229 plus taxes and shipping for a total of $278 to my door.

First impressions the gun seems to have more weight to it than I was initially expecting based on the size of the gun, which is nice.

The trigger has fairly long creep to draw in and then it firms up but still has a small distance under tension to pull in to break the shot, but it is easy to get used to.

Fit and finish seems to be quite good, I put a little oil on the slide and frame contact surfaces and after shooting it a bit it is quite smooth now.

The magazine is a bit of a PITA to load especially the last one or two but whatever.

The worst feature of the gun are the endless safties, which are a little difficult to explain but suffice it to say they were intially annoying but after a few rounds I am familar with the controls and it doesn't bother me.

I tested the gun with Federal Champion Bulk Pack ammo

It digested every round and didn't not jam or fail to feed once, I shot approx. 150 rounds through it. I rested the gun and adjusted the rear sight to bring it in to the center. Only adjusts right and left no up and down adjustment.

For the tests I shot the Phoenix 10 shots first at 10 meters and then at 20m. Two handed resting between shots.

I did the same with my buckmark.

I must say I was having an off afternoon, somedays I'm really steady others not soo much today was a pretty good day but I've done better with the Buckmark than what you'll see below.

In conclusion, the gun seems really reliable and the fit and finish is quite good, the gun even from a rest a 20m leaves somewhat to be desired but for 229 who cares it is a lot of fun. It rapid fires really well, meaning it doesn't jam not that it puts them all in a little raggedly hole in the center :)

And Kodiak Outpost is AWESOME

Any pics with a hand or two in the frame for scale? It is a lot smaller than the Buckmark, but I have never handled one of those for comparison. I was thinking of buying this for my kids to learn with (aged 7 and 9). They have shot my 22/45, but it is really too big for them to handle well.

Here are the pictures of me holding the gun, the one handed shots the grip looks a little awkward because I am right handed and not left handed, but it was far to difficult to try and hold the camera in the left hand.

I might put this gun on the EE, I really don't need it and I have two other target grade .22's on their way

Can I add my review? lol....I got the lemon.

On shot 23 my hammer came backwards at my chest, couple other parts fell out on the floor, and I had to take the grip off to get the safety disengaged to remove the live round from the chamber. :)

Federal bulk ammo, 10 yards wasn't bad at all until it broke.....hahaha

Kodiak was great to deal with on the order, shipping, return, and exchange however. Customer service could not have been better. It's nice to read a solid review that ended on a positive note, reaffirming I got yet another lemon product in my life. I think I am a Lemon magnet.
