First time out with her, -5 foggy, next to no wind. only had two diff ammo, but I wanted to sight it in anyway. I picked-up a Yo-Dave trigger kit, but have not put it in yet, I wanted to try it out first . It will be going in as the factory trigger has lots of creep and quite heavy. Anyway here are targets set at 25 and 50yds. 5 rounds each.

Hey...I had the same gun. Someone decided they needed it more than me. It was stolen from my pickup. Locked truck. In a case. People around the area must have seen me gopher hunting and decided they could break in and get a five finger discount!

Anyway...that still bugs me. I had the same box as shown in the first pic and I found they deadly accurate. Took a rabbit @ 90 yrds. Gophers were nothing @ 50 to 80 yrds. Got a prairie chicken once @ 140 yrds. My buddy says it was luck but I say nay nay. Going to get another one once I get over losing the first one. Loved it

I was out myself the last couple of days with 2 used CZ's I bought from the EE, a varmint and an American. Both came with scopes , a 3-9 Weaver on the America and a 3- 9 Leupold on the varmint.
They both shot great with Federal American Eagle ammo, also tried a box of the Win target ammo and was a one holer in the varmint from 25 yards.
The Ameican's previous owner installed the trigger kit, very nice and crisp.
Accurate rifles are such a joy to shoot. FS

I manged to shoot a Prairie chicken in the head with mine at 80 yards. Those 452's are excellent guns for range and field. Not too heavy, affordable quality. I bought mine used as well. The guy above that had his friend say it was luck that got him that shot, luck might play a role, but you improve your "luck" with decent equipment.

It looks like a very nice set of targets :yingyang: , esp. given the idea you've not found its "pet" ammunition yet....:)

Try American Eagle 38 gr Hollow points and CCI mini mags. They produced the best groups of the reasonably priced ammo in my 452 american. Better than Federal and Winchester Target ammo in my gun.

Check with a piece of paper and make sure the barrel is still floated. The wood sometimes has a high spot develop.

I realy like my CZ 452 American(Almost traded it-oops) It is one of the nicest 22 I have ever owned.Shoots great with almost any ammo and seems to have a hunting rifle feel.

Pretty ###y little 22 all in all. Liked it so much I got its bigger brother the CZ527. They sure are sweet guns to shoot. Mine are still breaking in but Im hooked. Way more accurate than I am but working on that.

Well I installed the trigger kit this morning, easy enough! sure helped with both trigger pull and creep, for $15.00 it's a great deal. :) Checked with a sheet of paper and barrel is still floated. Will pick up some American eagle ammo and give them a try, Thanks Grizzlypeg! Now once the fog lifts I may get out there again. :)

For the price, The CZ 452/453 rifles are an excellent buy! The accuracy is well above run-of-the-mill rimfires, and the action is strong and smooth. They need trigger work, but that is easily done. I have 2 - 452's one in 22 LR and one in 17HMR. Both are great "carrying" rifles, light and plenty accurate for 90% of my shooting. If you want more accuracy, prepare to spend serious money. Regards, Eagleye.

Ameriacan Eagle

Well got out today, fog lifted. So I tried the american Eagle and this is what I got, again I installed the trigger kit, which is nice, with a very lite trigger and just about no creep, I think I will get used to it, it's different, to lite, I don't know?
Anyway it was more brezzy today, and I think it may be me. 50 yds were not what I expected?? Like I said I need to get use to the trigger.:)

Next question for the CZ shooters, I know the bore in these are smaller, so do you find they need more cleaning do they plug up faster with copper-lead?
Thanks. BB

I've not done much cleaning. I sticking to the theory that until accuracy drops off, don't clean the barrel. It doesn't hurt to pull a bore snake through to clean the chamber area which may accumulate wax, lead, powder residue.

I also notice that if I switch ammo brands, it takes a few shots for the barrel to restabilize the other brand. Its like something has to be laid down or removed. Cleaning also seems to result in the need to fire a few off to get it back to where it was.
