Had some fun today with my primary hunting stick! I have 2 loads worked up ready for hunting season and wanted to try some longer than 100 yard shooting with it today ... despite the unlikely chance I'll get any shots at that distance around here.
I was shooting 150gr Speer BTSP's behind 47.7 grains of RL15. It shoots right at an inch for me at 100 and has only a slightly different POI than my 165gr Nosler partition load. I have a Vx2 2-7 with the LR reticle and was trying out the dots for elevation at 200 and 288 (pic).
My 700 is in .308win with a 20" tube - getting about 2750fps with the 150grainers. I have it zeroed at 100 and used the first dot for 200 and was about 2 .5 inches high. The shots in pic are at 288 yds --- my longest shooting distance at the ranch, and seem to be right in the middle of the 2nd and 3rd dot. Was a little bit of a cross wind out there ... not too terrible I don't think and definitely great practice!
