Range time with the Remington 700 AAC-SD 16.5" .308 PIC HEAVY

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with bedding the Hogue stock with a bit of work beforehand. I know some guys have re-enforced the stock with aluminum rods and filled the pockets inside with epoxy. But if money is not an issue I'd still go with a new precision stock.

Thank you for this, I will likely get a stock from here sometime in the next year.

I just ordered a B&C A2 from Redhawk and I can't thank whoever posted that link enough. I was going to buy from rifle-accuracy but the price difference is huge. I paid less for the stock and shipping from Redhawk than rifle-accuracy charges for just the stock. Before the massive $87 export/shipping fee lol. Came to $275 US with shipping and spiderweb finish. Your best bet is to phone in the order as they don't have USPS shipping on the site. As for the hogue, I don't see much good coming out of working on it. My Howa has a short integral recoil lug in the receiver that leaves more material under it than a Remington recoil lug. My forend doesn't touch the barrel even on a hot day. But the Remington is best with an aluminum bedding block. The hogue is just a hunting stock with a slightly wider forend for the hvy bbl channel. A good fitting, solid, bedded precision stock will change everything. Fighting ergos is like shooting while someone jabs you with a stick.

Oh no no, wasn't implying anything. That Hogue stock is poorly made/designed. Guess that helps keeps the cost of the SPS. I ordered a B&C stock from RedhawkRifles.com

I bedded my factory Hogue stock on my AAC-SD and it made a big difference. Though I'm not the greatest shot by any stretch of the imagination but here's some load testing I was doing a few weeks ago. I'm still going to buy a better stock eventually but that crappy Hogue stock is salvageable until you can afford to replace it.

that's what im talking about! I got the same result when I bedded my oem hogue with 4 layers of soda can sheet.

Was at the range today for some stress release. I got an amazing group! (for me anyways).

100 yd Target

230 yd Target

By far my best group ever! Shot at 230 yds (Probably lame by most of your standards...)

Another decent group at 230 yds... Pulled one though...

100 yds with 180 grain winchester power point, I could not get a decent group at 230 yds though.

Apologies for the quality of the pics and lack of actual results, these are the only targets I have on hand to show the grouping I can get.

The first pic is @ 200 meters, this was a confirmation grouping to verify my zero from the last time I shot. It's just a 3 round group, not quite a cloverleaf but I was happy enough with it to move to 300 meters. That was with 180gr Fed Power-Shocks factory load.

This pic is @ 300 meters the same day. Looking at the pic you can see the progress as I zeroed in. First shot landed low in the glare at the bottom. After adjusting I started doing groups, first group was bottom right, second group center. When I finally got it dialed in I created some calm and shot the group in the top left, only had 4 rounds left. Not my best shooting to date, but for a rough zero with daylight dwindling, I walked away happy. Again this was with 180gr Fed Power-Shock factory loads.

And just for giggles here is my rig :)
