Rangefinder....is there a difference?

Just want to know...I see there are rangefinders for sold for golfers...is there a big difference between the golf models and those marketed for shooters. ? FYI, look at Bushnell Tour V3 Laser Rangefinder for example. I can get one from my bank points if it's good for me. Not worried about the looks.

Just noticed that this one vibrates when it locks on "target".

Same technology is used in both. Depends on range you need and if you want ballistic compensation for angle, load, etc.

Figure on having about half the rated range on animals. Is that enough for you use?

I can not speak from my own experience but from the reading I have done, when talking about Bushnell LRF's there is a difference in the software. The hunting versions have 2 or 3 different range modes. The target mode which I believe picks up the closest reading the LRF gets. The BUSH mode that allows it LRF to ignore small items like branches and stuff that may be between you and your target.

I believe the golf LRF's use the target or "pin" mode only.

However saying this I have talked to a guy on the hide that picked up a Bushnell golf LRF and he has absolutely no issues ranging what he wants to range.

Just a thought, as I too have considered picking up a golf rangefinder from optics planet or something. (I think they can ship LRF's to Canada but I haven't checked yet.)

Straight line, no issue whatsoever. However if you are going to use incline/ decline or "ARC" the software changes the math slightly as you try to "land" a golf ball in a spot wherein a bullet will pass through. For myself I've seen almost no difference and I'm an average golfer and shooter. What's a better price than free on points though?
