Hello all,

I'm in the market for a rangefinder. Considering what's going on in the world, I'm doing what I can to avoid products made in China. I know Leica makes their rangefinders in Portugal but what of the other brands like Sig, Nikon, Vortex etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm willing to bet my whole life that 99.9% of everything you own is made in China. Why so worried about this one item?

Not the op but in my case you would lose. I'm currently wearing nothing made in china and only have 1 Chinese made optic out of nearly 2 dozen. Oh, and zero chinese guns.

Your clothing and toys make up 99% of your life? What I'm talking about is everything. Where was your spatula made? How about the can opener? What about the light fixtures and electrical receptacles? Your guns and optics aren't from china but what's on the label of your sling, carry case, etc? China has a big hold on manufacturing stuff for the world and it won't change for quite a long time. Not much we can do about it

Right now, let's say their isn't one. I am leaning towards Leica with a budget of $600-$1000 but I am curious to see if there are any other possibilities.

if there is none, buy the one you like or the one has the feature you need.

Manufacturer origin doesn't really bother me, cause you pay for the quality and normally it comes with a price.

Even the fabric and dyes your clothing are made from. It's hard to source all the sub-components, but I'm happy to see more of this discussion happening everywhere. Sure people pay $5 for a Walmart T-shirt, but I'd pay $20 for one made in Canada, from Canadian materials, on Canadian tooling... if such a thing existed. We're so far gone now, that it'll take a huge effort to rebuild a manufacturing industry, and we're so unionized here, that it's very unlikely that we'd get the pricing required to get sufficient sales to be profitable.

Much as I hate Gov't interference, once there are a number of companies making "product X" in Canada, a combination of subsidies and trade protectionism would go a long way to nurturing and building Canada.
