In the market for a rangefinder.

Would like to keep it under $400; would also like a MOA hold over.

Something like the Bushnell Scout DX 1000ARC seems to what I'm looking for.

Anyone have any first-hand experience? Are there other manufactures/models that have a similar feature set?

Dr. Islay,
The Bushnell scout DX 1000 ARC is a good rangefinder. However, I would suggest that you will on the long range benefit by getting the Bushnell G-Force ARC 1300 instead. I am writing this to share my experience with you. I originally purchased the 1000 ARC & had to upgrade after viewing the G-Force 1300 ARC features in a local gun store.
Primary reason for the upgrade other than the extended range is as follows:
- The display on the DX 1000 ARC is in mono chrome, which could make it difficult at times to see the display where as the G-Force 1300 is in bright red color display with various bright intensity settings.
- Tree range on the 1000 ARC is 650 yards & Deer Ranging is 325 yards.
- Tree range on the 1300 ARC is 900 yards & deer ranging is 600 yards.

You might even get lucky & get used one from members or somewhere for the budget you mentioned or even less.

Anyways, I am just mentioning the options & sharing my experience.

Thanks guys.

Very much appreciate the insight, Tadosan. After considering a bunch of sub $400 rangefinders, this looks pretty solidly the way to go.

And I'd love to have the scratch lying around for a G7. I do understand the 'pay once' philosophy, but on this one, I just can't.

glad to hear that you have made a decision. That is the one big reason I like this forum. All of us at one time or another have a lot to learn from others experiences, be it a failure or success.
