Ive gotten to test three high end LRF in the last few days, and would like to pass on my observations to you guys.
Leupold RXIII - Ranges trees out to 800 yards, handy, compact, light etc. Poor optics, dark, not too clear at all. Overly complicated, with set up making you want to pull my hair out. Modes for giving both MOA drop or Inches of holdover for various cartridges. Has the angle compensator too, which is good. $590, overall I give it a 5.5 out of 10
Bushnell Elite 1500 ACR - Ranged trees so far out to 1180 yards. Very simple, 2 buttons. Has angle compensator and bullet drop holdover too, out to 600 yards. optics are decent, but nothing spectacular. Scan mode, brush mode, and target mode (for smaller stuff). Its camo, and is pretty handy too. I really like this model. $520, I give it a 8 out of 10
Swarovski LRF - so far Ive ranged stuff to the same distance as the 1500 elite, 1180 yards on a poplar tree. Handy unit, light and compact. Optics are very VERY good, much closer to a high end binocular than your usual rangefinder. easy to use, one button. display is red, which is kinda hard to see in the daytime, but would work awesome in low light (as would the optics!). scan mode is another great feature. no angle function or bullet drop etc. Price is $1099...overall I give it a 7 out of 10...
soon I hope to try the Leica 1200 Rangemaster, and will let you guys know how I like it.
so far, bang for the buck, the Elite 1500 is pretty wicked
