Rangefinders

last night at sundown I ranged trees at 1500 yards on the nose with the Elite 1500, and hit a grain silo at 1664 yards. I could not believe it

The Leica 1200 has worked extremely well. The Swarovski guide 8x30 is a much nicer unit (more $$$ though) and well, I still believe the way to go is the BRF Leica.

The wife bought me the Swarovski 1500 8X30 for my birthday. Hoping to get it out soon for some long Range trials. Had it at the gun club and it was excellent. Crystal clear I dont know what I love more, the rangefinder or having a wife that would buy me a rangefinder!! Just kidding she's #1.;)

Curious as to the difference in performance between the various Leupold models. I've been contemplating the Leupold Wind River RB800C. Wonder how it differs from the RXII or RXIII?

Same price range as the Leicas and the Elite 1500 but not sure of performance. Has 1x more bino power (8x32) and also has the double eyepieces in the back vs. the monocular both of which are nice features.

Also, reference the Elite 1500 - Is the ARC feature a must have or just a nice-to-have for a rifle hunter?

rangefinder

I bought a leica 1200 last year and i find it awsome at dark, found that it will range as far as i can hold steady, very easy to operate the red light is easy to see anytime of day. I have not tried any thing else but a leica 900 and they are fantastic also, If there is a better rangefinder than the leica i would love to try it.

i was lookin thru a lieca bino/rangefinder combo..very impressive .i like the idea of having both in one unit..

FYI I ranged cows at 678 yards with the Elite 1500 ACR

still havent gotten a chance to use the Leica yet

I have ranged cattle at 900yards with the leica 1200.Elk ranged to over 700 yards deer to around 600 yards, and pronghorns to right around 500 yards.

I should of mentioned that the cow I ranged @ 678 just happened to be the furthest animal in the herd. That was the first time I tried it on animals. :)

I keep looking at the 1500 but I am curious: what is the difference between the camoed 1500 and the "pinseeker" other than that the latter is marketed towards the golfers ?

So far I haven't been abe to range any animal past 600 yards with the ELite.

It will pick up the tree the bear is under, but not the bear.:)

Longest range was 885yards, a tree.

Just swaped out the battery today with an Energizer, we will see if it gives it some exrra zip.

I got to try the Leica CRF Rangemaster 1200 out this week. It is a very compact unit, with pretty good optics on it. Brighter than the Elite 1500 & RXIII, but not as good as the Swarovski model. It will range trees out to 1050 or 1100 yards, but runs out of steam past that. Has standard mode & scan mode. Display is red, which is good in low light, but not as good in bright conditions (fair trade). Very easy to use, one button.

I still prefer the Elite 1500, even though its a bit bigger & optics arent as nice.

Price for the Leica 1200 CRF is a lil over $800, the Elite 1500 as mentioned, a lil over $500
