Back in the day, Cooey made single shots for Eatons and they were the Ranger model. However, your receiver looks exactly like a single shot Iver Johnson that I have apart right now. For a time, Cooey assembled shotguns in Canada for Iver Johnson. I'm not sure if the parts you have hold any sentimental value because if not, it is not worth the bother of locating a stock and forearm. You can buy a typical example for $100.00 complete.

It does have value for me, grandfather gave it to my dad. I don't see any company name stamped on it. Just 'RANGER' in a semi cercle on the left of the receiver. On top of the barrel above the chamber '12 gauge choke bore' on the first line and 'barrel and lug forged in ONT'. Don't see 'COOEY written anywhere nor Iver Johnson'. Do you still think it's a cooey ?

It's an Iver Johnson champion model that would have been assembled by Cooey. The stamping "choke bore" and "barrel and lug forged in one" is your typical Iver Johnson stamping. And as I mentioned, it looks just like an Iver Johnson that I have apart.

Well, without seeing it I have to say the that what looks like a "t" is actualy an "e" and is hard to make out clearly. Why I say that is I have 4 Iver Johnson champions and all have the stamping on the barrel that you describe except they all say one, not ont. I also forgot that I have a 12 gauge single shot that looks exactly like your receiver and it is also a "Ranger" marked gun, nothing else on it. It also says " 12 gauge choke bore and barrel and lug forged in one". It is the same as a couple of my Iver Johnsons. So if yours actually says ont, then I don't know. You would have to check with someone who has a Stevens made gun.
You're wright, I rubbed some fine steel wool and it says 'one' instead of 'ont'. So you're probably wright if this is the Iver Johnson markings. Il looked up Boyd gunstock website for it. They only have the 'champion' model Iver Johnson gunstock while mine is marked 'RANGER'. I'll probably have to carve one up.
I have a Champion 410 single shot, from Coburg. It was my mother's, when she was a kid. Her job was to supply the family table with rabbit and partridge. The forend is missing. I have a picture of her with gun in one hand, partridge in the other. She is about 12 years old. The forend is missing in that picture, so it has been missing for about 80+ years. I have about given up on finding it.
Would the 410 forend be different than the one on a 12ga?

The champion wood should fit it. Some older champions (and my Ranger) had a prince of wales type pistol grip instead of the traditional pistol grip. But the stock would probably still fit the receiver. Looking through my stuff, I have a stock off of an Iver Johnson 20 gauge, which should be the same. It is not much of a stock having being cacked and poorly repaired and is missing the buttplate but you can have it for the price of postage if you wanted to see if it fits before looking for a better one. I got rid of the foream wood and iron awhile ago.

I can't go to a gun show in the GTA without seeing at least 2 of these, I'm sure if you looked someone at a show would have a stock for it. I needed one a little while ago, I went to see my local gunsmiths, the older and beardier the better, sure enough someone had one.

I have wood for an Iver Johnson but like most of them it is cracked. May be very hard to find one that isn't cracked.
