I've done some searching on the internet and beat feet in and around Edmonton trying to find a low-cost range. I'm not a penny-pincher, I just don't want to spend $300/year just to be able to shoot up some paper with a pistol. If some of you guys could suggest some of the cheaper ranges in and around Edmonton it'd be appreciated.

I was told Spruce Grove has an outdoor range too, for $99/yr, Wild West is only$79 i believe, you have to buy their ammo though.
I went with Phoenix, got a good impression there, and they have the indoor rifle range, and i like to fire off my other guns occasionally too. They are $250

spruce grove 99 deal seems good, but your going to freeze your ass off 8 months of the year for 99 bucks

the 79 at wild west i thought was more of a rental pass, and didnt cover if you have your own firearm. and unless you have your own firearm you have to shoot their ammo.

250 at phoenix is quite reasonable, its going up to 300 at the end of the month though.
the 250 also overs if you ever want to try your hand at one of their rental firearms.
And its good at the cowtown range too.

CHAS is only $50 per year and is a great outdoor range in the summer. they have gongs out to 800m I believe now. And with a CHAS membership you get free tuesday nights at Phoenix.:D

Wild West Shooting Range membership is cheap however the catch is you can only use their ammo and it is ridiculously overpriced  . Just call them and ask how much they charge for ammo and compare it to what you would pay at wholesale sports. I was all set to buy a membership until I found out. This is especially bad for people who do their own reloading. I just applied for Spruce Grove so I will see sometime in the next month or so what it is like.

I like CHAS also at 50 bucks, great range other than it is almost an hours drive from my home to the range. Last year was horrible because of all the rain and it was of course only on the days that I could go. The majority of my plinking I do at Pheonix and I don't have to worry about the weather and the staff are fairly nice. My kids love the CHAS and when they come out they love to just plink with the .22's on the pistol range and love trap shooting on the far left field.

Sherwood park gun club is well worth the seventy bucks. They provide so much more than just a shooting range. I cant wait to bring my family out there. Trout pond, club house, walking trails and camping facilities. They certainly are leading in all ways including the "Rules". They certainly love the rules. I assume a lawyer sits on the executive.

CGNers, my hat's off to you. Not only do I get several great suggestions, I get the GPS coordinates of their range! Thanks a bunch.
