RANT......Hey Westerners what the hell is a ky-ute?????

There is only one ki-YO-tee...our boy Wile E.

Everything else is a KI-yute.

As I recall from when he showed his business card, It was Spelled 'Coyotey' or 'Coyotee'. I was a kid when I last saw a show with him though...

Actually SJ...........30-06 does in fact designate a caliber. The correct full designation of the 30-06 is; 30 caliber cartridge last variant of 1906, this is derived from the 30 caliber cartridge designed and submitted for approval in 1903 (30-03). So as is evident, the first 2 digits do most definitely designate the caliber..........the last 2 being the year of acceptance by the US military machine. Neither tells us one thing about the brass case behind the bullet unlike European cases (7X57) which if nothing else tells us the caliber and length of the brass case behind it........

By the way, the correct pronunciation of the word coyote as applied to the scuffy fur bearing dog like animal of North and South Americas..........is KI-YOAT, with a dialectal variation being KI-YOOT. At no time has the pronunciation of KI-YOAT-EE been correct. It is not now nor ever has been a 3 syllable word as noted by the person from the Oxford dictionary. Not to mention the pronunciation of KI-YOAT-EE just sounds so very very wrong, like something you'd hear in a kid's cartoon.............

30-06 designates a cartridge. The caliber is .308".

Well All I can say is you westerners have it way easier here in the big Q we got language police ! Nit pickers with chips on thier shoulders .I going to stop my ranting before I get out of had . This isn't a matter of pronunciation, or a matter off calling something by a different name. It is a matter of being dead wrong.

It's like calling a beaver an otter. Just plain wrong.

Why, you ask? Because there already are things called "partridge" and they aren't grouse.

Would you call a wolf a fox?
I dont call them that, that's what in getting at, that they do out east. A partridge is a partridge, grouse a grouse, fox a fox and a wolf a wolf. Seems pretty simple to me. Your reading comprehension is off a bit, I think your on my side.

Locally, partridge is a ruffed grouse here. Chicken is the general term for all grouse, and many call a sharptail a prairie chicken.
Why not call a a ruffed grouse a ruffed grouse, ruffy? I wouldnt call a horse a donkey or a goose a swan. Especially wen using two animals that are similar in appearance.

Strangely enough, I joked to my father about the pronunciation. He calmly looked at me and chuckled. Then replied " Well your Uncle Bob called them Ki-yote-tee's " Chastised...big time...
Uncle Bob was the real deal. Rode up from Texas on a pony ( He was a kid then ), he had pistols and the whole deal ( Uncle Charlie sold them...some folks).
I really don't care what you call them, just don't tell other folks they are wrong.
Sound fair?

I can't take it any longer.......watching Jason Peterson's into the wild last night, and that is how he describes coyotes.....as "KYUTES" WTF? The word is pronounced Ki-yote-e not Kyute. How in the Sam hell did the pronunciation for coyote manage to be butchered that badly.

Ps: not picking on just westerners the yanks call acorns.."Akerns". And how is a roof a ruff????

Sorry if I'm picking on anyone but come on the guy is a TV host, lets at least pretend we can speak proper English.

Rant complete!

Do you say Zee28 or Zed28 ?
Yodel Dogs get me worked up, linguistic pronunciations not so much....
