Rant: RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Primer catcher

This is what I did to catch primers:

An empty cottage cheese / sour cream tub, a couple of minutes with a pair of scissors, and two retainer pins later. I think it only missed 3 or 4 primers the last time I de-primed several hundred cases.

One of our CGNers 3D printed a repacement for my RCBS Rock Chucker and it works extremely well. It has a tube into which the spent primers go. You can direct this tube into a container and solve the issue of primers being all over. It is held in place with an empty 22lr cartridge.

After some further use, I wish to modify my initial assessment that the RCBS primer catcher had been designed by a 5 year old child, and by the same token, I wish to apologize to any 5 year old child that may have been offended. Indeed, it appears that the designer of that primer catcher is likely a five (5) year old mentally deranged and evil baboon.

I have ordered a 3d printed replacement on eBay.

I ordered and received the 3d printed after market primer catcher. What a great product! Installation is a cinch and it catches every single primer. For an unknown reason, they sent me two, but only charged me for one. The second one has the slide and collection tube on the left.

Same here. My brother recommended it to me and I am glad I got one for my RCBS Rock Chucker IV. It is incredibly sturdy and fits precisely to the press. The tolerance from the primer catcher and the ram piston is nice and tight. Spent primers conveniently pop right into the attached tube. It is simple amazing what they can do with 3D printing nowadays.

I've been using my Rock Chucker press since 1976 and have had no problem with the plastic primer catchers.. Maybe the older ones got it right??? Just stick an empty 5 gallon bucket under the press and have at it.

That is probably the only weak point of the Chucker, once you get the primer catcher upgrade it's pure awesome though.

Mine just rolls down the tube and dumps into an old Gatorade bottle under my bench. No muss no fuss
