Hey there. I'm an entry level shooter; I'm interested in knowing of type of system that will allow me to easily swap between a 1x-3x scope on a parallel rail, to a 6x-20x scope on a 20moa rail. In particular for a Savage PC10. I'm interested because I don't have a slew of rifles that can be set up and dialed for each need. My needs are target shooting, and hunting. I don't want to hunt with a 6-20, but I don't want to target with a 1x.. I'd prefer not to have to unscrew to many things as stripping would become a problem. Is there something out there that allows you to swap easily, but with consistency? (important) I'd even entertain an idea that eliminated the 20moa rail, as I'm sure I won't get to those ranges much before having the funds to get a purpose built rifle, however, it'd be pretty sweet if I could keep the 20moa compensation for the long range stuff.

Thanks for any input!

Buy yourself a couple sets of quality quick detach rings. Keep them attached to the scope at all times and then just switch the scopes with rings when you change your shooting style. That's all I have for you but I don't think that's a very efficient route.

^^ thats about the only route, 2 scopes , 2 sets of rings, and leave the same rail on, either QD rings or somthing with a big nut (near, nightforce, badger etc) and leave the 20MOA rail on the rifle

If you're mounting a picatinny rail I'd look at getting a quick detach scope mount, rather than sets of rings. They are available with lever locks which hold tight and eliminate the screwing/unscrewing. Also, depending on the type of scope you use you may not need the 20 MOA rail. I have a Bushnell Elite Tactical 10x on a 223 and it has enough elevation adjustment to shoot beyond 800 yards.

Great. Sounds like there are a few options. I'd be happy to eliminate the 20 moa rail if the scope can cope. hehe. My main concern was over exercising the screw holes that secure the picatinny. It's not a picatinny currently, but the cost for rings, a new rail, or even the lever lock solution is negligible compared to a second rifle etc. This will likely only be used for a season or two, but good to know there are options out there that are dependable. Thanks!

You can also get scope mounts for picatinny rails that have 20 moa built into them. Leave the picatinny on there and swap optics as necessary.

I would keep an eye on the EE for anything made by LaRue. I say the EE as they don't export to Canada anymore. There rings IMHO are the best when it comes to this. My scope comes off my savage and back on with no change in POI.

Burris Signature rings with inserts. Use a flat rail and the ring inserts will give you any desired MOA compensation .

This or use rings with a top 1/2 picatiny and mount a red dot optic for anything out to 100 yards, works perfect.
