Rapid Z Varmint , experiences/usage

Turrets are more accurate but nowhere near as fast. The drop downs give you a new crosshair at known distances. The scopes also offer a "range finding" feature. If you're making quick shots this can't be beat. You also have the option of dialing it in if you wish. Although you only have 50 moa with these 1" scopes.
accuracy trumps speed any day. i will take range, check chart, dial and send it, over hold over any day. its a better system for all rifles, for all ranges.

The is no hold over with a ballistic reticle. Place appropriate reticle on the target and squeeze the trigger. No dials to turn, no charts to check. Speed and accuracy in one package.

How far are you looking to shoot? Why not just put a RZ800 on it instead of trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

I am looking to change out the reticle. The 1000 just didn't work out for the load the the rifle wound up liking.

The 600 and 800 are not available for that scope, only the Z1000 and varmint , then mil-dot and then other duplex reticles.

That is why I was kind of leaning towards the mil-dot , the varmint only has graduations to 600 though as well.

SH i still dont see how a reticle is better than turrets, what if you have a "tweener" shot or some thing? dial ups dont lie and really how many seconds matter if im about to let if fly at 736yards?

You don't see how just going to a new crosshair already set up for that range with your ammo and rifle is better than having to dial it in? Think of it as having your rifle zeroed at all of those ranges. You laser range it or use other range esitmation then aim and fire.

I hit a golf ball sized rock at 300 meters using the new crosshair. No having to mess with my turrets. I just aimed using the crosshair marked 3 and hit. That's sub moa with that rifle and not having to touch a turret. No getting lost or forgetting my count etc. Just aim, breath, hit. I think you can see how that would be a huge advantage in hunting, varminting or tactical shooting. For dedicated target shooting most will use turrets. You're usually only shooting at 1 or 2 distances from a bench and your target isn't going anywhere.

This was kinda the result I was after but may have to go different direction this time.

The reticles don't lie either. The reticles are in 50 yard increments so "tweeners are pretty simple....you just hold tween them. You do realize how many inches one click of a turret scope represents at 736 yards right? You are going to have some tweeners too. Ballistic reticles are very accurate and require no dialing or chart referencing. If you ever have the opportunity to try a Rapid Z, I'm sure you'd be impressed. Not all ballistic reticles are created equal but the Rapid Z certainly leads the pack for ease of use.
