Rare '41 Tula 91/30

Sorry Folks can I get a bit of a history lesson please. Why did the Tula factory move in 41?

Thanks

Like I said, Stalin said move the damn factory to siberia
And on the way we moved it

Germany invaded Russia, they had to move the weapons and heavy industry that were in the western part of the country towards the back of the country so that they can still fight the Germans.

With millions of mosins and most selling around$140. Sorry buddy I don't care if they made 1 mosin that year. The word rare and mosin should not be in the same sentence or at all for that matter. Everybody and their dog has a mosin and most bought atleast one just to round out their collection. Svt-40 is rare especially only some hat 6 ports and some had 2 ports some snipers. That is what is worth something and the svt-40 will be worth more than a garand in 10 years.

Please appreciate the history of these rifles. Remember that before they moved the factory the Germans were so close to the gates that troops were being sent there to pick their rifles off the assembly line and marched out the door right onto the front line, most to their death. It is one of the more colourful rifles of the war in that regard, and many of the ones that are rare are due to the intense hardship of the times.
And the only way SVT's ever stand a chance of being worth even remotely what a Garand is, is if we can get all the leftovers out of Korea. Even then, I doubt it.

*and if you can tell me where you are getting $140 Mosins, I'd really appreciate it. I suspect you're exaggerating, but it's worth a shot.

Mosinnagant.net says tula made almost a million mosins in 1941. Yes, attrition would have been high.

Mountain man sports in cranbrook BC $139 in cosmoline
Canadian tire $149 when on sale
On the EE. $149.95 from the "ultimate hunting store". It is on the first page in yellow.

Don't get me wrong i am no expert(I just started collecting rifles last year) it probably is rare. What is the difference between a 41 and a 42 or a 39? The one thing that I like about milsurps is the wood is different on every rifle. I like the mosin and mine shoots well for $139.

Is it possible to tell if a mosin saw combat or if it was just in storage through the war. Mine looks like new, I doubt it was used. It is a regular mosin and I put a cheap scope on the rear sight.

I have a 42 Tula ex-sniper with holes filled for a PEM mount.Very rare as they went to PU a couple months into 42.Same year and maker as Vasili used.Pardon the spelling.EX bore.BTW

OK, so I have to eat crow on the prices. Also for the crusty mood I was in earlier. I went and checked my Mosin, it is absolutely not rare in any way whatsoever.

You know when I was selling Mosin a year ago for 100 dollars + 25-30 shipping everyone complained about it. Now we have $189 Mosin with free shipping anywhere in Canada and people still complain. Next year those will also go up in price (200-220) and in about 2 years will disappear from the market completely. Please go back to those places that sold them before for 140 they will tell you that prices went up. If you see one for 140 but it now. Why do we always complain on what we did not do and buy before? Surplus will disappear from the markets soon, next surplus is ak47 and those are banned in Canada.

Any mosins I've seen selling for $150 or less this year have been in places where I've had to sort through a stack just to (maybe) find a couple with acceptable bores. Even then the wood was no great hell on those ones and I've stripped badly peeling shellac from one so far just to get a rifle that doesn't shed all over me when I pick it up. They're out there, but mediocrity abounds.

Everybody complains regardless. Still at even $ 250, what other rifle could you buy? To the complainers: there is a little thing called inflation. Just saying

That's what I was thinking. I got a very cheap one last go round and it was in about the shape you describe. So I finally broke down and ordered two from Westrifle last night.

It has arrived & is built on a Izhevsk receiver. The barrel was actually part of the 1940 production run & renumbered when completed. I don't think Tula made very many (if any) 91/30 from the start of full scale svt production to early 1942 after the move. I will post a pic of a bouquet of tulas when they have all arrived. I am aiming for at least one of every year from 36-44.
