Hello to all,

During the last months we have seen, on different threads, nice pictures of Pythons and other interesting Colt snakes....unfortunately not a single one of a Colt Boa. Of the 1200 made I am wondering how many of those have landed in Canada.

Well I know that there is at least one. A cyber-friend was nice enough to send me a few pictures and gave me permission to post them on CGN for the benefits of the members.

If anyone else has a Boa, it would be nice to know that it is not the only one in Canada!:)

OK

That stainless Diamondback is a beaut, most I've seen are blued. That Boa is gorgeous too. Too bad Colt sill didn't make DA revolvers, they are works of art.

The so-called Boa grips are wrong, and the barrel looks like aftermarket. To me it appears to be a fake.....

I don't think it's very nice of you to insult the owner and his Boa by claiming it appears fake without any proofs. Owning a Python or two doesn't make us Colt specialists and I don't think I am wrong when I say that the closest you've been to a Boa is on your computer screen.

While you are entitled to your opinion, which I respect, you have to be careful....even if the owner is not actively trying to sell his gun, I understand that an opinion like this can destroy a gun's value and maybe a collector's reputation pretty fast.

Also for your satisfaction, I asked him to send me a Colt letter and pictures of the serial number (if needed).

OK

hatman I hate to be mean like this but learn to just shut up! The fellow did not ask your opinion if it was correct or not, he just posted some pictures of a friends gun. What if you are wrong and it is correct? Did you ever condsider this before you started shooting your mouth off? It can ruin the value of a perfectly good gun and also a persons reputation, what if someone did this to you would be be happy about it? I think not. In closing learn to put your mind in motion before you put your mouth in gear.

Also to the org. poster nice looking guns thanks for sharing with us.

Very well spoken Graydog. I could not agree with you more.

My interweb foo has told me the Boa is a combination of a Python barrel with a Colt MkV frame. I've owned Pythons, as a matter of fact, the first stainless Python in Canada, but I have never owned a MkV.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the benefit of the MkV frame over a Python frame? And therefore give it a reason for doing the "conversion" by Colt. I've known guys, back in the day, to have taken a S&W frame and a Python barrel, making either a 'Smolt' or 'Smython' (pre L frame days) but that made sense. I and obviously others, felt the trigger action of the Smith and it's leaf spring is a better press than that of the stacking V spring of the Colt.

These Boas are now quite the collector item and as such bring a premium price, but the oft asked question for this gun is: "What's the point?" Not trying to slag this gun, it looks gorgeous as far as I'm concerned.

Truly very nice. As Chris mentioned to me, at his club there is at least one more Boa being shot! That nickel DB is also quite rare.
