I don’t always shop at CT, but when I do, I check their sporting goods section. While selection varies by store, their prices are also quite high (usually), but I recently found some pretty impressive prices on some .223rem from Hornady and Nosler.

Hornady Superformance Varmint 35gr NTX, and Nosler Matchgrade 77gr HPBT were the exception to the rule, with most of the other calibres/loadings seemed to be in the typical high price range.

These seem to sell in the $40-50 range these days, so $28-33 seemed like a pretty good deal.

Old stock pricing when they brought it in likely a few years ago and it hasn't been updated since would be my guess.

Just about over 30 years ago I was in my local Canuckistani Tire and bought a 500 round brick of .22LR for gopher shooting. The young lady proceeded to charge me the price for a 50 round box.
Needless to say, I cleaned out their 22 ammo that day.

I did the exact same thing at the Southland location with Am Eagle. I tried to tell her the mistake and she got snotty with me so I paid and went back in and got a year's supply at a buck fifty a brick. Told my gopher shooting buddies and they did the same thing. My 10-22 got a workout that season.

I did this with laundry detergent once.. now it doesn't seem like such a win.

Could be, but I was also thinking it may have been some error between store cost vs sell price, as the odd numbers for the cents seems strange for retail prices.

I recall I got a box of the NTX stuff a few years ago from a CGN vendor and it was low-mid $30s with the sale at the time. I also wonder how the Nosler 77gr HPBT compares to the coveted Federal Sierra Matchking 77gr OTM

I also always do a quick check in the gun and ammo department. : )
Scored a decent deal at my local CT about a month ago, they had clear out pricing on their last plastic ammo can with 250 rounds of blaser 40s&w.
Don’t have a gun in this caliber but could not resist at $50 plus hst.
Traded it with a friend who shoots it so worked out good.

If I see a clerk at the check out F up on something I always point out that they rang it in wrong
Just the way I’ve been brought up I guess
