That’s a really cool piece of history and I enjoyed reading the article.

I don’t see who would take the risk buying it though when we could be on the verge of a bare minimum buyback in a few years. Hopefully not but if so I doubt you’d get anywhere near the $5k purchase price come any confiscation…

Can't believe one is available. Got out of the expensive precision pistols years ago but never got my hands on one of these. No doubt someone will pick this up and I hope they enjoy every second they have with it.

I had one a few years ago. They are nice for sure. This is actually the first polymer framed pistol I believe. HK was so innovative back then. Make sure you find a source of recoil buffers if you plan to shoot it.

The First Polymer pistol would be VP-70... This one is mainly stamped steel with polymer parts...

I had one in .45acp pre Allan Rock days. The thing to look out for is the recoil buffer disintegrating over time, if not replaced you run the risk of a cracked frame. If that happens you have and expensive paper weight. Good luck getting parts let alone a frame. However cracked frames are more prevalent with the .45 acp version than the 9mm. Would be prudent to have a HK aficionado go over the piece just to be safe. I would jump on this one for 3K. $4400 plus taxes, too rich for me. YMMV

Agreed, I would grab this in the blink of an eye if the price was around $3k...

The VP is the first with the full polymer integrated frame and grip a la Glock. The frame of the P9 is technically polymer and its development preceded the VP.

That grip though... I think that's the most hideous thing I've ever seen on a pistol. That includes hi-points.

Not sure if you are referring to the actual gun at Prophet but it is sporting the target grip. The standard polymer grip is also included and it makes for an ergonomic package. Nill also made a nice grip for it.

Agree to disagree on that one, whole frame of P9 is stamped sheet metal covered with polymer material. Polymer parts has no contribution into structural integrity of the gun. I still admire it though…

You are probably right. I don't have any unique insight, I'm just going off of what I recall. I thought the steel rails were just inserts like you see on other polymers, but if you are saying they comprise the frame and the polymer section was pasted on, I'll take your word for it.

McDonalds is hiring.

One was listed on CGN a few years ago for closer to 8k, and sold. If you want a P9S that isnt Prohib, its easily worth the money.

8 grand? Ok. Well I blew my McDonald's paycheck on a HK P7 M13 and a mint Sig P210-1 and a P226 X5 this year, so I'm done:p maybe I can work some overtime and get the P9:)

The Youtube clip provided by others in the thread earlier has the ultimate information on this gun...

Do you hate ergonomics or something? It's a very common style on target pistols, designed to fill the palm entirely for maximum support.
Sleek look don't even enter the equation but it doesn't even look that bad. I can tell you have limited exposure to competition pistols if it's that jarring for you.

The "issue" grip is included. Would have made for a better advert picture with it I think - but doesn't bother me, Walthers GSPs are like that.
