Rare Long Branch .22 prototype pre-cno7

maple_leaf_eh - this is an exciting story. Is it possible to post a copy of the paperwork? I'm assuming the "survival" rifle is "EAL" style - 2 pc stock?

Yes, short fore end, no extra bands, issue back sight, apparently with a short magazine too.
And yes, I will post on an image sharing site.

maple_leaf_eh - I'll PM you my email. you can send me the file and I'll attempt to upload thru my CGN account or link it..

There appear to be at least 22 EAL rifles still in current inventory.

VERY interesting to see!

NS

In 2019 there was still 110 in the system not including the LB serialed rifles associated with the applicable NSN.

Makes you wonder where 88 of them have gone over the last 18 months. Were they turned into razor blades or gifted to Rangers?

Here's the PDF file, from 98 apparently. Maybe there's something more up to date?

Mapping Branch? And thus a different set than any EAL's.

My guess is that the rifles were brought back into warehouses, inspected, the unserviceable ones were either put in Repairable Reserve, or disposed of/scrapped.

It's possible that some were gifted to Rangers.

Would like to see markings on the receiver. Is the serial number stamped on the wrist? Great to see if there was any proof that there was a 22 EAL. What about 22 hornet?

I heard few times about eal in other calibers, including .22 and .22 hornet. But never seen one. Would love to see the picture of one.
I have a strange one. In 7,62. Dcra conversion, long branch marked receiver and eal furnitures.

Some of those rifles might still be at CFB Borden Weapons School lockup as I have seen a row of those on the racks a few years ago.

Not Base Maintenance lockup, Weapons School Lockup, 2nd floor, (end of the hallway, if any of you have spent time there)!

There should also be a few at the CFB Borden Museum!!!

You could contact the museum, maybe not right now, because of covid.

Did any of you guys read my earlier post?

This pic shows one row of three in total, all Long Branch and EAL.

I misplaced the pic showing the row of EAL style rifles!
