Hey.
Ive always wanted to get myself an SKS eversince my dad had one when i was younger.

So on saturday i decided id go out and finally get one.

I picked this up at a local Gone Fishing.

Once i got home i decided to do a little reasrch on it,
and from what ive found it is a 1949 sks with blade bayonete and aparantly there fairly rare. It does have a spring laoded firing pin also and 90 degree gas block.

I was hoping some of you on here could verfy all this, i looked through the SKS45 sticky and all leads me to believe i am correct on my findings.

Anyway before someone asks here are some pictures.

Nice looking rifle, but its not that rare if its a refurb. I'm sure you'll have hours of fun and entertainment with it.

Nice refurnbed 49 Tula. Most of them seem to be painted during refurb.

Thanks
I dident like the look of the painted ones and am extremly happy this one is not.

This thing is deffanatly a shooter in my books. i dont think ill ever get rid of it.
refurbe or not i love this thing still and the fact that its one from the first year with a blade makes it that much more valuable to me. to me it doesent matter if its worth a fortune i wouldent sell it for anything.
Ive already put 40 rounds through it and its extremly fun.

Thanks

Dave

Forty rounds?? What happened to the other few hundred rounds for that range trip. Did you pass out and wake up at home or something? Just kidding ya. Nice sks. I want one just like it.

could you post pic of the front furrule? its the piece attached to the barrel between the gas block and the rare sight block .

Nice rifle, glad to hear you are going to use it as a shooter. Before you put to many rounds through it maybe you should consider selling it on EE and make some money. Some "Hector the Collector" will buy it..............

thanks for the pic.

i believe most of the 1949 had some sort of refurb done to it especially the stock so not unusual to find a 1949 with repaired or replaced stock . in your case the ferrule and the bayo was also replaced.

still a very nice find. congrats again.

Very nice 1949 you have:) I have 1 with the blade bayonet and 1 with the spike bayonet. Now you will have to get another 1949 with the spike bayonet :D

good looking 49 refurb, congrats. down here in the states that rifle would bring $1000+.

most collectors would be proud to own that rifle.

thats correct , in july one sold for $1126 on gunbroker.com and that one had a blade bayo like this one.

westrifle has a couple of 1949 for $350 with spike bayo but according to the pics the stock are lam and trigger has been replaced.

Not really an update on the rifle itself.
but picked up a crate of ammo today.
now i can go shoot lots...cant wait.
