This would be an all around <300m deer/bear rifle. It should weight about 8.5-9lb when finished. I will only be shooting factory ammo through it which is why I chose a CF barrel (better accuracy with untuned loads). The action is a 3 lug 60° throw which should be smooth as butter and it will be carried slung with an adjustable 2 point sling. I pack hunt and live in my boots.

Let me know what you all think about a setup like this.

Too much scope and too heavy for me...
 
So the parts finally landed and the initial fit is perfect. Now all that's needed is to have the barrel chambered and twisted on.




Does anyone know of slimmer scope caps than the vortex? My bolt just rubs on the bottom rubber of the cap which is forcing me to maybe go back to using a cover or bikini unless I can find something slimmer?
 
The butler creek caps are thinner but not nearly as durable. I think you may want to relocate your throw lever on ur scope. Looks like your bolt handle could hit it. Nice rifle, paint job on scope looks cool too

Good eye. The throw lever will be going to my right handed friend with the same scope and I'll be looking for a different one or a mirrored version for lefties.

Nicely done. My build plan is along the lines of yours a Hybrid PH type rig, .308 but with a 24” bbl. The stock seems to be my stumbling block currently. I’ve looked at B&C M40 and LRH, Manners, McMillan and AG. What was the final tally on your AG?

And you will lose a bit of weight as well.
That and a much smaller scope will get rid of a bit of weight as well if that was your goal was a lightweight pack rifle.
If you are happy with however, great- mission accomplished!
