This is my first poll, so I hope this works.

First up, watch the video of me shooting HERE

There's an extended take down below it that is the entire sequence, complete with all my **** ups, but its like a full five minutes long.

For those who are curious, this is a Fabarm Martial 12g with a 13" barrel. The AR stock adapter came from S&J and SFRC, using a Magpul MIAD grip and CTR stock. The sights are LPA ghost rings, and the vert grip is a stubby tango-down.

I know I'm not Chris Costa (don't have the beard for one thing) but I found it a lot of fun to do.

But my opinion isn't exactly qualified. How'd I do?
 
velcro side saddle would help alot and get rid of the rail covers on top "they get in the way of your hand when loading"

P.S. clean your firing pin and lightly lube with CLP

Also how old are you "when I was your age, I could not efford a Tavor, Kel-tec and fabram :p am just jelous :D"
 
I would lose the fore grip and i would try not to raise up the gun as i reload but seeing as i`ve never shot with a sling this may be the only way to do it . when i do a tactical reload i don`t take the gun of my shoulder and full reloads i do stronghand with the guns loading port turned up held im left load with my right it`sa 1100 rem.

the gloves need to go,your guns needs to be cleaned,you need to lean into it more, and dont let go of the pistol grip when firing but other then that you did good :p

I always think I'm leaning into it until I look at the tape. But I'm definitely not.

I need to figure something out for the gloves. Because I put probably 150 rounds through that day, and I get cold and #####y with no gloves at all.

I actually clean my guns once a week! But I've never used CLP on my fabarm, so maybe that's the step I'm missing.

And to Dswiy: I'm 23, but I definitely don't own any Kel Tech. An older friend of mine has one. Essentially when I started buying guns I was buying sks's and norinco 1911s. I didn't really like any of them, so I cleaned them out. Now I've promised myself that I'm going to buy a few nice guns, rather than a bunch of s**tty guns. Hence the Tavor.

I love the Fabarm, but it's been so picky in the years that I've had it (this isn't my first video where it gives me trouble) that I'm hesitant to call it "one of my nice guns" just yet.

I could use some work also.The longer one i should have been taking two shells out of the sling at a time.but its hard to do with it swinging around like that.

I would get rid of that front grip for sure.Should keep the shotgun on target as you reload it also.Try and grab two shells instead of the one you are wasting time going and grabbing the second one.
Count your rounds you should know when that last round is getting ejected also.
I have never had a miss fire from a light primer strike with either of these remington 870.
But ya pretty good job man.
 
I watched your other video. Your gun malfunctions a lot. Are you using the cheap ammo with aluminum bases or the normal stuff?
 
Voted not bad, nice guns like others said.
Could save time by not swinging the muzzle to the ground every time.
Don't feel bad though lots of people do it.
 
Keep your gun in the shoulder and eye on target when reloading. You shouldn't have to look at your pouches and gun while reloading. Try upside down shells in a carrier on the receiver. Nice video.

I found that too with Remingtons and cheap ammo "funny my Benelli has no problems at all with the junk ammo ;)"

I had to polish my 870 chamber to make it work "seems it was to tight or rough"
 
Takes a lot of nerve to post yourself in action on this site. The armchair commandos will be here soon. :p

If you want to pick up some speed, take a lesson from the Cowboy Action guys and keep your shotty on your shoulder. You should drill with your shell carriers so you can grab a round without looking, (as mentioned elsewhere).

I knew I'd be sort of putting myself up on the cutting block for some criticism.

But in response to 00buck, I'm using junk ammo for this, and would like to step it up. Do the magpul thing and train with slug and double-ought.

Maybe after christmas is done, and I can go back to selfishly spending money on myself.
 
I'm not voting because I'm not an expert by any means, but I did notice something I thought I'd mention. I've done a couple of OSTS' tactical shotgun courses, and this was mentioned both times in reference to the Magpul videos - what's the argument for the sorta...."overhand" chambering? Hopefully you know what I mean there. I suck at reaching under the gun to throw a shell in with my left hand, so I understand going over the top with it, but what I don't get is why one might close the chamber with their arm over the top of the barrel, then flip it under to shoot.

I've tried it both ways myself, and I find that once the shell is in the chamber, I can get a normal grip on the slide, chamber the round, and shoulder the gun in one movement rather than closing the chamber overhand, THEN moving my hand back to the underside of the slide and shouldering it as two movements. All I can think of in teams of reasons for doing that is...maybe fear of spilling the shell before the chamber is closed? I never had that particular problem myself, but it does make me wonder. I'm much faster doing it "my way", but that could just be because I've done it hundreds of times in practice.

Again, I'm not sure my descriptions will make sense to anyone outside the confines of my twisted mind...call this curiosity rather than criticism, because for all I know, it IS a better system :p

Edit: looking again, I can kinda see why if you're keeping the gun skyward after the chamber load while you fill the tube.

Cheap ammo causes all kinds of problems. Some of your function problems may go away with decent ammo. If they don't your gun has a problem or problems that need to be addressed. Maybe you need to grow a beard?

Keep shooting and practicing and you will get better. The best way to practice is with other people so you get some feedback, competition, and advice on the fly.
