Rate of twist in .22 Hornet.

velocity would be down, but would there be better BC with the better bullet?

heavier bullet will have less wind drift. But less velocity so more drop over distance.

Personally I'd just go get a 22 cal that fits my desires... But I also dont own a hornet, so clearly I dont know what I am missing out on. lol (Or any other 22cal centerfire for that matter, although I'll probably get a 223 when I do get around to getting one.)

I've loaded for a 1-16 twist Anschutz Hornet for 40 years, case capacity is already limited, a heavier bullet would further intrude on capacity to keep the OAL suitable for the mag, also a heavier bullet would possibly require a slower powder but there is no room for that option. Of course you could load that heavier bullet with the better BC , sub sonic , that would help with the wind drift, only problem is now the rainbow trajectory. 40 years has taught me the 45 gr. bullet is ideally suited for this size case.

Yeah, I would say the Hornet is a perfect package for a small centerfire as it is from the factory. I'm pretty sure someone with a K-Hornet will soon pipe in here.

Personally I've never felt the need for this little wildcat. But too each his own.

I understand that the K version has a bit better case life, like I mentioned I also have a Bee so if I need a bit more rifle I go to that or for broke with the Swift :)
