I' looking at barreling a rifle with this wild cat .What would be the best rate of twist to have .I'm planning on using 36grain varmiting to 80 grain long range target .I'm thinking 1in 8"rate of twist.Second choice 1in 9"from what i have read elsewhere.

Opinions as to rate of twist i should be using and why.
Thanks

Shilen Rifle barrels suggests:
.224 CF
- 7" for bullets heavier than 70gr.

- 8" for bullets heavier than 70gr.

- 9" for bullets up to 70gr.

The longer the bullet, the quicker the twist... if you plan on using 80 grain bullets a 9 twist will not stabilize the bullet - it will tumble through the air...

Will the 36gr.-50 grain stablize in the faster twist rate barrels ? How will the accuracy be affected?

They may not make it to the target.. too high a velocity and rpm.

You can not make a .22 caliber rifle that will handle every bullet weight and length of bullet with good performance at both extremes.

To start with, chambering with a suitable throat for a heavy long bullet will not work well at all with short light bullets...
