rate of twist?

I had bought a box of 60 grain Hornady SP to try in my 1:12 but sold the rifle before I got a chance to try them. I used alot of 55 grain Nosler BT and they shot excellent, and are quite long. The 53 grain Barnes TSXbt didnt shoot too good, could be crowding what the twist (at least on the rifle I had) can pull off

I have 2 223"s one has a 1-12 and the other 1-14 and both will shoot 64 grain winchester's.I think as long as its a flat base bullet you should be go up 60 grains.

The 70gr Speers may work in your .223 as they are a semi-spitzer and shorter for weight than others.

I get 1'' groups with them in my 22/250 with a 1:14" bbl.

.

I also use 70 grain semi spitzer speers in my .22-250 savage with 1-12 twist and they stabilize fine and shoot 1" groups easy at 100 yds. Don't see why they wouldn't stabilize in a .223. The speers are short and are designed to stabilize in the slow twist barrels of the hot .22's.
