Rather a Strange Question

Hi,
I have a fairly new Savage MSR-15 Recon.
Slight problem. I've never had a look before, but...
Isn't there supposed to be a cap at the bottom of a pistol grip? I don't know if it randomly came off and I lost it, or if it never came with the rifle.
It's just... hollow.

Ahh, strange. Seems like it'd make a handy little storage spot.

That's what I once thought. So I bought a Magpul Miad grip with the storage core in the grip handle... only to never once use it. We aren't carrying our rifles in the field so how often is a spare battery, bolt or lube bottle going to be mission critical? That's what range bags are for. And if you are competing then it is just pointless extra weight. Take it from someone who's been down that road, save your money for more ammo.

Makes sense! Just seems really weird they'd leave it hollow/uncovered like that.
