I haven't heard a lot of feedback on these peep sights.

I like the idea of not having to put a red dot on to improve on the crappy AK style post/notch.......
but it seems like a peep that far forward might not be such a good idea.......

Apart from the peeps, there is the NEA fiberoptic design, Is that much of an improvement on the OEM?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, because I'm ready to improve.
 
Maybe you can use one of NEA's Ar adapters to mount a peep further back.

I've definitely been debating doing that and installing an AR folding rear sight, but I like the original chipwood stock and don't want a M4 type stock.
I just want a better, faster and more accurate sighting system.
I might break down and get a NEA barrel clamp and install a vortex red dot, but I'd prefer good irons. (why can't everything wear a garand peep? ;))

I just had both the peep sight and a red fibre front sight come in for exactly that reason.
I can tolerate the V-notch and front post on my SKS or Mausers, but if something better is available I'm all over it like a fat kid on a smartie. Mind a red dot on a five foot long Turkish Mauser doesn't look appropriate.

I find the peep really forces my focus, while the red fibre should make for clear centering for my ageing vision.
 
A flip up would likely be to high for the stock front sight but a weaver type peep might work.
A single point sling adapter with a short rail on top could do the trick or you could make a peep that mounts right to the chipwood stock...... lot's of extra chipwood stocks out there I think with all the people changing them out.

A tang style peep from a lever action would look pretty funny....

Actually a AR BUIS is really nice on the NEA adapter and upper HG or Barrel clamp.

The Rauch Rear Peep Sight with the NEA Fiber Optic Front Post is an excellent combo for shooting up to 50 meter's. From 50 to 100 meter's the fiber optic front post is a little too big for the group's that this rifle is capable of, but not overally noticeable. Now for the 200 meter range the rear peep sight start's greatley restricting the field of view but since this round is not meant to be shot with any great accuracy past 300 meter's & the rear sight is only made to 400 meter's it really make you focus on the target more. Witch ends up being a good thing.
So all the BS aside...
It's definitely worth the money & I would definitely recommended geting 1.

I'm going to order it right away.
As for the front post, I might just paint mine white and see if that does it for me.
 
the square front post would make a more traditional sight picture, like a Garand. I think the peep/fiber combo'd with a posp 4x24 w/7.62x39 BDC reticule and 400m range finder would make an amazing setup...
 
Looks like Czechpoint is out of stock on their fully adjustable one and I doubt they'd ship to us up here anyway, darn that US state dept.

Just corresponded with Sean from Rauch and he's in Winnipeg too, so it should be no problem getting my dirty little paws on it right away without having to wait for Canpost.

Should be running it in time for thanksgiving, I'll make sure to leave my feedback on it.
 
I've got a Rauch peep on my rifle, and I like it. It's a good diameter for me. Not too open, not too tight.

I'm going to throw on the FO front sight soon and give it a shot, too. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm sure it works great.

But if a guy wants to use the stock front sight then a non flip up weaver peep would be the way to go if you could get it mounted at the right height...

Yes that's true. My only personal issue is with peep sights 12" away from my eye.. Some people really dig them, I don't. But if they work for you then that's all that matters. No one shoots the same, and if it works for you then that's the way to go.

... I wonder if anyone has bothered to try the Troy Micro BUIS on the rear and see how far off it is from the factory front post? That would be a nice long sight line on this rifle.

I'm a little confused, but that's nothing new. Just need to get my head wrapped around this, 'cause I'm looking at putting a AR stock (any leads on a non buffered tube?) on my '58, via the railed stock adapter, but I'd also like to use my Troy or ARMS BUIS to co-witness through the stock front sight (hopefully with a fibre optic)

..The new NEA AR adapter is quite a bit smaller than that one pictured. Just for info.. it's been replaced.

What you're asking is similar to what I just pondered... can you install a troy micro BUIS on the rear and align it with the factory front sight. You would have to raise your front sight post for sure, but could you bring it up enough?

Does anyone have a set of micros they want to part with?
