Last fall I had a sh!t tones of ravens on my bear bait. I know the are good to help bears find the bait but my problem is while I'm sitting at the bait they are constantly flying over my head and squawking and not landing.

Does this deter bears from coming back to the bait? I ask because I got skunked last fall after running a successful bait for a few weeks. Didn't have a single good bear come back after I started hunting.

what I find with crows and ravens is that depends on what tone of cawing there doing. I usually caw back at them while not looking at them directly. I've had them land close in the trees to see what's going on down there. there a curious bird.

The birds did not keep the bears away. Approaching bears assume that the birds are flaring off their approach... I have watched hundreds of bears around baits and their interaction with crows and ravens... if anything the birds help your cause... they will probably keep you motionless and occupied.

That is an understatement, I have never sat so still in stand ever with them circling and watching me. Been using this bait for 3 years and never had so many of them. Sure make a racket and ruin a perfectly relaxing evening!

I knew a guy who had a similar problem. Couldn't sit still and smoked like a chimney.:(

Grizz

LOL, I could be the problem for sure. But I don't smoke and them ravens kept me still as all hell. Felt like if I moved they would tell on me.

Maybe just looking for an excuse why I was cooking tag soup.

Was a tough fall all around. We got s####ed all 4 of our baits, could be we just suck though. Hopefully spring bear will see my freezer full, I've got 4 beavers ready to go up a tree that we pulled out of my creek this winter.
