Raw linseed oil vs boiled

Question: Does boiled dry to a shine finish and raw to a dull? I want dull, but can't recall which one to use.

I recently put another coat of BLO on a nice old M1917 sporter, and it dried to a shine finish. I had a nice time taking it down to dull again.

* The stuff I used was double boiled, if that makes a difference.

Raw gives me a dull finish.

I use raw mixed with turpentine 50 50 for my rifle stocks. Soaks in nice and doesn't mess with the original finish. This is for my milsurp rifles

Raw is the dullest at the final finish, it also takes the longest to fully dry. Boiled is still a dull finish but not as dull as RLO, boiled is cut with thinners to allow it to soak in and dry faster iirc. I gave my Enfield a good 3-4 coats of BLO after the hunting season was over last year, It was anything but shiny once it dried.

I gave my 870 laminate stock set a good blo soaking and once dry I buffed out two coats of furniture wax, it more of a semi gloss after the waxing. Easy to take the shine away with some 0000 or 00000 steel wool and a rub with a soft cloth.
