Pure BLO ( no additives) ;)

Don't ever put a scope on a RC! It has nazi markings...it has history...

If you need to get a sniper variant of a mauser, do it to a post war eastern european gun. They're usually more accurate anyways.

That's what I thought to. Even though its an RC rifle it still has history. The more and more I read your answers if am thinking of leaving it just the way it is. I will try and re-finish the stock and the keep it the way it is.
Del-selin's is the store in Vernon where I bought my rifle I like the shop and yes I agree its is a very cluttered store full of interesting things.

I would NOT use True-oil on a milsurp. It has polymerizers (ie, Varnish) in it. NOT APPROPRIATE for a milsurp, though it makes a GREAT shiny finish on commercial stocks.

Well it surely looks better than that red #### the Russians slapped on it. Besides according to you guys there aint nothing one can do to an RC to make it be part of the family. But I will look into this BLO oil.

Tung oil is another alternative too. It is a nice, light finish and seems to have a lighter tone when dried than BLO. BLO is definitely closer to what the Germans used I think though. Here is my shooter, walnut stocked RC after ye ole Tung oil treatment (Behr's if I remember correctly)

What is that ring in front of the chamber? Is that a small or large ring reciever,I just purchased a Brno CZ24 and it doesn't have one and has a secound cross bolt .

But it does have a laminated stock with flat buttplate.

Never mind I went to a mauser site and found the answers I needed.

But what puzzles me is that my VZ-24 should have a straight bolt, but its way curved and fits into the stock perfectly. The chamber bell has all the crests ground off and no other markings than on the right side[M].

And in front of the ring on the barrel 30-06,I know it has been customized because it has a Rem like ramp rear sight.

It looks like the custom 35 whellen I saw here,I only gave 325 for it so for a great bolt 06 I'm happy and the barrel is way bigger than a 98.

The barrell is almost as big as my Mod 70 in .375H&H,are VZ-24 barrells bigger than K-98's?
