I've been using an RCBS 502 powder scale for several years now, and recently it started to stick a bit at/around the "0" point, just enough to have me feel less confident about its preciseness than I would like. I've cleaned up the balance points, and wiped them with a bit of silicone. That's improved things a bit, but it's still less than perfect. Anyone had to deal with this? I know I could send it back to RCBS, but I'm hoping there's a simpler fix.

I`ve had the same problem with an Ohaus 505, cleaning the pivot points as you described was all i had to do. Make sure the damper arm on the end of the beam isn`t rubbing, thats about all it could be, unless the pivots got damaged on some way.

You can also make sure the pivot ends aren't making contact with the sides of the enclosure. In my Lyman scale if the beam is pushed sideways by being jostled this can cause it to stick. I just look down from above and make sure the ends of the pivots aren't touching.

Things do wear out including powder scales.
Send them back to RCBS and they will refurbish them. FREE

On a Ohaus if memory serves me...charges a fee of some sort.
The only fix is to replace the anvils and knives.
