RCBS Charge master feedback

I'm very happy with my chargemaster 1500, I don't load a lot of rounds, but it sure seems to make the loading go by much faster.

I couldn't say no when they went on sale years ago at natchez for like $275 or so :)

I still don't trust it fully though, I toss every 5th round on the beam scale just to compare, and it's never been out more than a tenth of a grain (or maybe hundredth, it's been awhile I can't remember which)

I love my unit too. But found even with the straw I would get over throws when using extruded powder with longer kernels (h and Imr 4831). I sawed off the end of a .243 case, wrapped a piece of masking tape around the spout to snug up the fit, and found this setup to work better than the straw.

To easily correct to occasional tricked over charge, I made a tool, a tiny shovel out of a bendy straw the ones with a flexible elbow.
I bend it to look like a hockey stick cut the handle to ~3" and the blade side to ~1". The elbow gets glue squirted inside to plug it and lock in the bend angle. The blade end gets a back cut with scissors to 50* and the base point is trimmed flat to form the edge of the tiny shovel. I use this tool to easily shovel out the 3 to 4 individual granuals from the pan that are the over charge amount.
With the dispenser in the auto dispense mode cartridge count # stays matched to the quantity of ctg's I'm going to fill.

Yah, I got a tool too. The ones God gave me my forefinger and thumb. haha accurate to 1 granule.

Just added this to my FX120i... it works very well. Faster then I can seat a bullet when a charge close to desired is put on the scale.Within a kernel of ideal if not ideal... huge time and fuss saver. Expensive but as a system, I am very happy.

Hey Jerry, Did you ever have/use a chargemaster to compare with this unit. Just curious if you had done a comparison

We did the testing years ago, pretty close to when they first came out. Wasn't to my liking and other methods were explored.

Some still use their CM in concert with a better scale, as a dispenser, it works very nicely... but then there are faster and far cheaper options. But if you already have a unit, why not?

Today, I have the AND/autotrickler set up... very expensive, amazingly fast which I wanted. So I now have speed and accuracy, for a price

I feel this investment is worth it.

Enjoy your set up.

Just an update - I liked my RCBS Chargemaster but my AMD FX20i & autotrickler combo are amazing. The accuracy is excellent and the auto trickler is fast. Only downside is that you cant store multiple loads in the memory but that really isnt an issue for me because most of the time Im testing different load combinations etc.
So whoever mentioned the Autotrickler to me - thank you!
