I have both. The CM Lite out of the box works just as well as the CM Combo with the updates for speed and the straw for better trickling. The only thing I don't like about the Lite is the chance of hitting either the go or power buttons on either side of the display. It is way too easy and can cause some foul language. Keep a pan under the spout. Otherwise it works very well. The rifled drop tube on the Lite seems to do its job. The Lite only has half the capacity weight-wise as the CM Combo but I don't recall the last time I tried to drop a 300+ gr charge. The Combo is programmable and stores charges in memory for later use. The Lite doesn't do either but it works very straight forward, can repeat the last charge entered and keeps count. For best accuracy, the Lite requires a 20 minute or so warm-up period and calibration. I do that with my CM Combo anyway so no big deal.

The reason I bought the Lite was that my CM Combo scale unit was having some problems with the keypad and it was on sale at Natchez with a $25 gift card to boot from RCBS. Finding the base CM1500 scale was pretty much impossible. I have since taken it all apart and cleaned all the internal contacts and it works pretty much like new but I wanted to have a unit ready to go - just in case.

So have the lite or even tried but I take it you own a combo is why you recommend it. I have read alot of the reviews online but looking for feedback from real users

Morning,

You are not going to find many hands-on reviews of the lite units. They came out last year and I have not see any for sale in Canada personally.

You tube is your friend.

What I seen and read is the following;

Differences:
Price (lite is cheaper)
Touch screen
Price: CM1500 minimum U.S$270 & Lite U.S$200

Performance:
Exactly the same

My Concerns:
Touch screen, if it is anything like mobile phones, once your screen fails odds are that the machine is done.
Price - how are they selling it for 26% cheaper with updates? Where are they saving money?

Personally:
If you have the money I would go with the true and proven CM1500.
If not, go with the lite, statistically speaking, RCBS has a strong reputation and good warranty.
I don't think you will be disappointed.

thank you for the input an yes i have seen all the videos on youtube i think i will go with the charge master lite

Nice!

You won't be disappointed. I have had a number of CM1500 over the years and only had one issue - power cable.

It took a bit of back and forth with the RCBS but they sent me a replacement. At first they wanted me to ship the whole unit back and I told them "not a chance".
