Today I wanted to work up a load for my 7mm-08 and went to use my Chargemaster. It keeps coming up with the error code 02009 on startup. I can't find an answer for the problem in the manual and was wondering if anybody had similar problems or an answer. The unit is out in the garage and which is cold but above freezing. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I'll bring it in and warm it up.
I did a google search and was able to find one thread where somebody else had a similar problem but didn't say what the code was and ultimately it seems that the unit started working again.
Any thoughts??

Randy

Unplug it from the cord for 10 mins and re-try.

If it won't work after that, phone RCBS and they will have you send the unit down (most likely scale only) and they will send you a new one. I had a unit that would not turn on and they had me a new one at my door in about 2 weeks.

I did that....and let the unit warm up completely. Now I don't get the 02009 error but it's switching erratically and unexpectedly between grain and grams.
Anybody have any experience with RCBS customer service?? The unit is under a year old but unfortunately I've misplaced the receipt. Are they good about that kind of stuff??

That's one of the reasons I like RCBS, their customer service and technical department. Second to none. To start with, I'd call their 1-800 number, tell them the problem and see if it's possible for someone to walk you through a solution. It may be some little thing and easy to solve. If it happens to end up being something of a more serious nature, I'm sure you'll find them more than helpful, and fair. Some contact info;

I haven't had to do anything to my Chargemaster, but on a previous model of RCBS electronic scale, some wierd error message came up. I phoned RCBS and a tech talked me through a routine that fixed it right up. RCBS has superb customer service. Regards, Eagleye.

RCBS has great customr service for their reloading gear, but I am not sure how good it wil be on thier made in China electronics. I think the Chargemaster has a 2 yr warranty, probably for the reason that most electronics have limited warranties.

SO far my CM is going strong.

I had an error code on mine last week, I called customer service, and they said to ship it to them , and that they would send me a new one,

hopefully it arrives next week. It sounds like they are having quite a few failures with the CM combo's,,,

My 1500 ChargeMaster Combo as well. There has only been one minor electronic problem I've ever had with any of their products and it was 'remedied' with the same effeciency as their non electronic products. I've always found them more than willing to stand behind their products, electronic or not and I don't think it matters where the item was produced, be it the U.S., Mexico or China. There are quality standards that I'm sure they hold their contract manufacturers to.
