Costs more... you bet but once you use these type of scales, it will be hard to go back to "regular" stuff.

I manually trickle at this time but might just get the add on to mechanise.

Thanks Jerry, nice scale and set-up.

Too expensive for me that's for sure. :) That scale goes for 670$USD+

I can deal with slower (vs RCBS) but failing......that suck.
 
I've been using one of these because I had it around. It's remarkably accurate but not the quickest. The price and performance is right though! Very repeatable and doesnt drift. It's very sensitive to wind though. I needed to build a wind screen to prevent the air flow from interfering by a vent across the room. I guess it has to be that way when your measuring 0.01 of a gr.

I had a chargemaster but sold it. Too slow and only +- .1

I throw then trickle on the gempro.
There are tricks to using the gempro without drift. I will write more about it tomorrow. I constantly get to +- .02 easy and fast.
 
What I do with the gempro:

Turn on 1 hour before
zero the scale and pan.
quickly take the pan, dump a charge, place back (dump low, like -.5-.1)
Then, trickle approx, then use your left finger to gently push down on the scale next to the pan to "reset" the measurement to the new trickled weight. Then trickle with right hand, then just gently press with left finger to reset measurement (by that I mean, press too much, then release, so the machine re-reads the weight and does not drift and sees the trickled grains.

every time you drop a few kernels, use left finger to just push on plate to get another reading.
With the right hand you trickle and left hand pushes.
Doing that I can do it in less time than the chargemaster to +- .02 reliably with no drift.
Usually less than 10 seconds of trickling will get you to +-.02 grains.
Often the lee measure drop is spot on.
I have a small bowl with tweezers and will remove or add a kernel. H9845 kernels are approx .02 grains so it's usually +-1 kernel.<

It takes approx 15 seconds for a dump and trickle to +-.02, so I didn't see a need for the chargemaster anymore. It took longer to get me to +-.1

If you take too much time, or if you don't do the rpessing with the finger trick, it doesnt work fine and will drift.
Of course the 750$ fx120i scale will work better, but is it 500$ better? You decide. Not for me.

The scale drifts a lot when it heats up or if the temp of the room changes.
For example, I took my scale from the garage to the house, and it drifted terribly for the first hour. Then it was ok to use.
Oh well, if someone feels like paying the cost for the fx120i, it's definitely a better scale. It wont drift.

I have a chargemaster and find that it over charges about 10% of the time. The bad part is it still show that the charge is right on. After it's done if I lift the tray then set it back down it'll sometimes be one or two tenths over yet it was showing dead on.

Is it with stick powder?
 
Yes most of my reloading is with stick powder. I realize it's difficult to meter. What annoys me is the scale lies about the charge being accurate.
 
The chargemaster is an overpriced way of weighting charges. I dont get it. I had one and was glad i sold it.
Its not even precise.

The Chargemaster is only supposed to be good to plus or minus 1/10th of a grain, which mine does consistantly. It works as advertised.

Yours must have been special. I have had mine for years and it simply works. To the OP save your money and just buy the Chargemaster. You will get a lifetime of service out of the machine with a company that provides excellent support should you need it.

I just use the lee powder measure to drop just below charge and trickle on the gempro... takes less time and accurate to +- .02 vs +-.1 for the chargemaster.

Faster, better. Why buy a chargemaster? I just sold mine on the EE at a good price and it sold the same day....
if gempro is an issue I might just buy an fx120i scale....
