So my very good lab grade digital scale kicked the bucket after close to twenty years. Frustrating to say the least but maybe it is time... Will try and send it back to get it fixed, but need to look at other options.

So, what are your opinions of the RCBS Chargemaster? Also, who has the best price in Canada? Or, just grab one at Wholesale or Cabelas?

Thanks!

Love my Chargemaster!

They're expensive these days due to the US exchange rate. Considering ordering from Brownell's or Natchez in the US (maybe now wait for a Boxing Day coupon code) and you can get one for the low to mid $200's US. Since you're not particularly close to the US border, the savings may be negligible when you include shipping, etc.

I got mine on black Friday weekend, 273 usd. Plus 50$ usd rebate. So not bad at all.

It's alright, I found it needs to warm up to be accurate. Like 30 minute warmup, otherwise it was over throwing by 0.1-0.4. So far varget metered the best, 8208xbr needed the McDonald's straw trick in the hopper and screw. 4064 was a bit worse, 3031 was constantly over by 0.4gr
.It isn't much faster than beam and powder thrower, but hopefully much more accurate!

All in all I'm very happy with my purchase. Should have bought it long ago.

Don't use my Chargemaster for dispensing powder. Takes too much time. 45 seconds per charge. Back to the Harrells measure and trickle to top loads weighed on 10-10 RCBS, 15-20 seconds. Still use Chargemaster for a scale, never turn it off.

Just leave it on....saves the warmup issues. Mine seems to be fine by the end of 5-8 minutes after turning it on, though.

I also Have a Lyman unit, and it does not function until 30 minutes has elapsed. It is faster than the RCBS, but not as accurate.....and a pain to
clean out after use. Dave.

Once I added the neck piece from a 7mm08 brass and did the software mods my chargemaster now is much quicker and doesn't throw overcharges anymore. I love mine personally, I check it from time to time with a Scott Parker modified scale just to ease my mind, but it's always right on the money.

I would recommend it to anyone, even if just for tossing charges then weighing in a separate scale.

What changes did you make ?how ?

Ive had one for a few years and at times it can freeze up. I did the straw thing and did the mods. I wouldnt spend over $300 on another one, Id go back to the old school thrower and good digital scale, its actually faster that way.

I dont have a Rpal, shoot only centerfire rifle and shotgun. Use the Chargemaster for centrefire rifle. With a tray of prepped and primed brass....startee up.....dispenses charge....pour into cartridge...replace tray on CM....cartridge in the Rockchucker.....seat bullet....measure Coal......place in box.....beep the next charge is ready.

I find it is just enough time to get in a great rythm. Each finished load in the box. Pick up and pour....seat....measure.....just keep going. I am really picky about every step in loading. The CM is exactly as fast as i want to go, super easy, takes the tediousness of hand measuring each charge away, and its is always perfect for weight.

I cant believe i loaded before i had one. I check weights manually, initially every 10 loads, less now, i have never had a single measure be out by more than .1gr, and have only ever had 5 loads out at all.
