Hi

Slight problem with my 6 month old ChargeMaster 1500 combo.

I e-mailed RCBS and they said to send it back, but I'm hoping for a quick fix. Their phone support is closed for the next few days.

I was using it in auto dispense mode to meter 32gr of Win 748 and turned it off to go out for a few hours. When I went back to it that evening the display came up with "W 7" and it is unresponsive to any keys. I unplugged it for a while and tried again with no improvement.

If I separate the two units, the scale functions perfectly but if I put it back together I get the same message.

Pretty much any electronic device has a way to do a hard or soft reset. Usually you hold in a certain combination of keys while powering up or down (sort of a CTR-ALT-DEL).

I'd hate to send it from Nova Scotia to California for someone to punch a couple of buttons.

Anyone have this or a similar problem and know the magic combination?

Thanks

Interesting. So was it in the middle of dispensing powder when you turned it off or unplugged it? Is there any small holes on the bottom of the unit that might be reset button holes? Often find these and use a pin or paper clip to push it and if it doesn't work then try pushing it while turning the unit on.

While RCBS has great service and all, having to send the unit back to the US would be a pain with Customs and all.

Keep us informed.

I have sent items back to the USA for warranty work and there was no hassle from Canada or US Customs, when I sent stuff down I just marked "return for warranty repair" on the customs paper.

I would assume there is a hard reset procedure. Hopefully they will tell you and you can fill us in as to the procedure. I would like to know just in case.

I've been advised the unit MUST be returned. Apparently no reset or reboot is possible. Can't wait to see how much Canada Post soaks me for this.
